Cedarville University will hold its 123rd annual commencement on Saturday, May 4, with 815 students earning bachelor’s, master’s or Doctoral degrees.

Each graduate has a unique story, but perhaps none as unique as Gina and Miranda Dyson, a mother-daughter duo from Cedarville, Ohio. Gina is pursuing an individualized studies degree, which combines Christian education and studio art. Miranda will earn bachelor’s degrees in studio art.

Summer internships are a common experience for college students. But not many have the opportunity to intern with the United Nations (U.N.).

Cedarville University freshman Rufus Mathew of Bahrain will intern at the U.N. this summer, beginning June 27 and finishing July 26. During his four and a half weeks in New York City, Mathew will attend open meetings of the U.N. Security Council and U.N. General Assembly; meet with organizations connected to the U.N., such as the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund and the World Health Organization; and interact with ambassadors and U.N. officials.

The purpose of this study has been to discover more about influences on adoptive parents’ decisions regarding heritage language maintenance/learning for their older, internationally-adopted children. While there is much literature available on heritage language learning/maintenance (see Geerlings et al., 2015; Hornberger & Wang, 2008; McGinnis, 2008; Mu, 2016) and also on intercultural navigation in transnational adoptive families (see Bebiroglu & Pinderhighes, 2012; Lee, 2003), the blending of the two (heritage language in these adoptive families) does not seem to be as well studied – a gap this present study attempts to address. It reflects on the influence that student language investment in an English-speaking high school has on the language identity and social capital of Generation 1.5. The adult court system has increasingly become a court for violent juveniles over time. Despite all the age restraints and changes in the law, the criminal court has still charged juveniles as young as 11 years old. This practice is unconstitutional and immoral. The constitution gives all American citizens the right to due process of law and the right not to be deprived of life, liberty, or happiness in the Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Golfers often work on their drive. But a group of Cedarville University computer engineering students is taking that focus to a whole new level.

Three Cedarville computer engineering students — Nathan Jessurun (Charles Town, West Virginia), Ryan Gordon (Beavercreek, Ohio) and Michael Hayes (Redmond, Washington) — are teaming up with Alex Cline (Cedarville, Ohio), an electrical engineering student, to design and build an autonomous golf cart. The students will test drive the golf cart in April.
