Starting a new ministry takes a significant amount of work, but for Cedarville University students Adrienne Krater and Claire Hoyt, taking part in a worldwide relief effort that brings hope and Christmas gifts to children makes all of the effort worthwhile. This fall, the two sophomores formed a new global outreach ministry on campus to support the work of Operation Christmas Child.

A Cedarville University visual communication design graduate from Syracuse, New York, has traveled to every continent and over 50 countries since his graduation in 2013, documenting the experience with a camera. James Mellick, a retired Cedarville University Professor of Studio Art, recently won a $200,000 grand prize for his art exhibition “Wounded Warrior Dogs” at ArtPrize, an international art competition, held annually in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
More than 1,450 artists from 44 different countries attended ArtPrize, but Mellick’s exhibit captured the attention of thousands of visitors. Mellick, of Milford Center, Ohio, won “People’s Choice Best in Show” and “Best in 3D” categories.

The church’s role in the growing opioid crisis in Ohio will be addressed at the Faith Leaders Conference on Friday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Cedarville University. The event, an initiative of the Drug-Free Action Alliance (DFAE) and supported by Gov. John Kasich, will equip faith leaders to help prevent substance abuse and support those who need restoration.

High school students who want to get an early start on college—and save money in the process—are participating in the Ohio Department of Education’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program. For colleges, like Cedarville University, partnering with CCP helps bring high-academic students to campus after their high school graduation.
Cedarville University has been participating with the College Credit Plus program since 2015. An estimated 45 percent of high school students taking Cedarville course enroll after they complete their high school requirements. And, statewide, more than 52,000 Ohio high school students participated in the program, saving $110 million on college tuition.

The Olympics might be over, but Grace Norman’s story continues to capture the attention of inspired followers of the Paralympic gold and bronze medalist from rural Ohio.
Norman, a freshman nursing major at Cedarville University, captured the hearts of many Americans when she competed in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Not only did she win the triathlon and place third in the 400-meter run, she claimed both medals within 36 hours of each other.
This was an amazing accomplishment for the youngest U.S. triathlon athlete at the Games. And, she is the only Cedarville University student …
