Helping citizens navigate through the stormy presidential election is the goal of the “Election 2016: History in the Making” forum, held Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in Cedarville University's Dixon Ministry Center. The free event, sponsored by Cedarville’s Center for Political Studies, is open to the public.
Expert panelists will address the question, “How did we get here?” in terms of the candidates, campaign rhetoric and the role media has played throughout the campaign.

Civil Rights Bus Tour Brings Students, Community Together, Mark D. Weinstein

As the national spotlight rests squarely on conversations of continued racial reconciliation, Cedarville University is making sure its students are grappling with the important issue. On October 12, 17 Cedarville students will embark on a bus tour of historic locations associated with the civil rights movement. Rev. Cedarville University’s School of Education will host its fifth annual Edcamp, a free one-day professional development opportunity for educators, on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.
Edcamp is a valuable venue for educators to connect and collaborate. Using an innovative “unconference” format, participants serve as both the expert and the learner by choosing topics they are interested in and facilitating conversations about education practices. This allows educators to share their knowledge and experience, and it maximizes their time and what they are able to learn.

New Financial Aid Program Focuses On College Affordability, Mark D. Weinstein

A new financial aid program and residence hall were announced after the Board of Trustees’ regular meeting September 29. Both initiatives are expected to improve student life and college affordability.
The Trustees approved the recommendation from Cedarville University’s administration that will increase scholarships and provide more need-based aid for new freshmen and transfer students. The new program will increase academic scholarships by $1,000, establish a competitive $20,000 President’s Society Fellows Scholarship to recognize academic excellence and godly character, engage donors to provide an additional scholarship for all Pell Grant recipients, and introduce guaranteed scholarships for students who do not receive …

The Cedarville University debate team competed in a National Parliamentary Debate Association (NPDA) competition and won the Sweepstakes and Novice divisions. The event was held at Wheaton College Sept. 23–24.

Cedarville University students Nick Camillone and David Mortenson competed at the Mason Cubing Challenge in Mason, Ohio, on Sept. 10. Camillone’s highest placing was fourth in the blindfolded challenge while Mortenson’s highest placing was 14th in the 5x5 cube challenge.

Cedarville University President Thomas White served as co-editor of the second edition of “First Freedom: The Beginning and End of Religious Freedom.” The book will be released October 15.
The newly revised book seeks to equip pastors, churches and college professors to defend religious freedom. Leading evangelical scholars Barrett Duke, Albert Mohler, Russell Moore, Evan Lenow, Paige Patterson and Travis Wussow contributed to the book.

Large Career Fair In Greene County Comes To Cedarville, Mark D. Weinstein

Cedarville University will host one of the largest career fairs in Greene County Friday, Oct. 5 when nearly 100 companies send representatives to the Cedarville University Fall Career Fair on Oct. 5. The event is from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Doden Field House, and the public is invited to attend.
A number of Fortune 500 organizations, including Procter and Gamble, General Electric, The Boeing Company, Honda and Walgreens are scheduled to attend.
