Exercise and relationship building will be immediate benefits to an upcoming three-day bicycle ride for 25 Miami Valley residents. But the ultimate goal is to raise awareness for pro-life issues when the riders embark on a three-day, 178-mile trek across Ohio July 31-August 2. The event is sponsored by the Dayton Right to Life.

Dayton Right to Life is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting the rights of the unborn, elderly, mentally handicapped, disabled and terminally ill. Proceeds from registration fees, corporate sponsorships and donations will directly benefit the organization’s initiatives in the Miami Valley.

Students from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy will be recognized by the American Association of Schools of Pharmacy (AACP) for their community service at its annual meeting on July 14 in National Harbor, Maryland.

New construction or renovations to Cedarville University campus while students are on summer vacation is typical for the physical plant staff. This summer, however, the employees have been collecting 200 mattresses and 80 bedframes that will be donated to the Bed Brigade, a Columbus-based ministry of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Representatives from Bed Brigade and Cedarville University will come together on July 24 at Cedarville University to load the mattresses and frames on a truck so they can be given to lower income people in Columbus. A team of freshman and sophomore engineering students from Cedarville University placed third at this year’s Model Design Competition at the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Conference, which was held in New Orleans June 26-29.

Bestcolleges.com, a national organization that ranks colleges and universities throughout the United States, announced today the top 25 colleges in Ohio. With more than 130 colleges and universities statewide, coming up with its top 25 schools takes considerable data and time.

According to the 2015 list, six of the 25 universities on the list are from southwestern Ohio. The University of Dayton, ranked #6, and Cedarville University, ranked #7, are the highest ranked universities from the Miami Valley. Overall, the highest ranked college is Oberlin, followed by Kenyon College, Ohio State, Denison University, and Case Western Reserve.

Robotics Team Wins Third-Straight Asee Competition, Mark D. Weinstein

A team of freshmen and sophomore engineering students from Cedarville University completed a three-peat in the Autonomous Robotics Competition at the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Conference in Seattle this week.

Cedarville’s robot, named Hermit, earned 291.51 points to finish well ahead of second-place Monroe Community College, which recorded 226.63 points. The championship is the third-straight for Cedarville, which won the competition in Atlanta in 2013 and Indianapolis last year.

Processing college applications is often accompanied by sorting through a seemingly endless mountain of paperwork. Traditional paper applications don’t just put a strain on resources; they can also cause many inefficiencies that significantly slow the admissions process.

A member of the Cedarville University class of 2019 has already joined the ranks of the nation’s elite students. Lindsey Carroll, who intends to study computer science at Cedarville in the fall, scored a perfect 1,600 on her SAT last summer.

Thanks to her perfect score, Carroll has been awarded multiple academic scholarships, including the prestigious President’s Scholar and Special Scholar Awards, which will cover the full cost of tuition at Cedarville.
