Two Cedarville University professors are encouraging residents from the Miami Valley to get involved in a cause that serves the hungry and homeless in Xenia and Germantown, Ohio. It also offers a bible study each morning for anyone who wants to attend.

Currently Phillip Thornton, Ph.D., vice chair of Pharmacy Practice and associate professor of pharmacy practice, and Melody Hartzler, Pharm. D., assistant professor of pharmacy practice, help One Bistro with its food truck ministry.

The future looks hopeful for students who are pursuing a professional degree in pharmacy. That’s good news for Cedarville University students as the inaugural class nears completion of their Doctor of Pharmacy in May 2016.

Forbes released its “Best Jobs in Healthcare in 2015” ranking, based on statistics and a listing from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and CareerCast.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted careers in health care and social assistance will provide the most new jobs in the nation during the next decade.

Jay Kinsinger, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Cedarville University, received four awards at the Artistry in Wood Show in Dayton in November 2014. The Dayton Carver’s Guild sponsors this event annually, and it is one of the largest woodworking shows in the nation.

Kinsinger was awarded Best in Category, First in Woodworking, and Best of Show by the Artistry in Wood judges for his wooden bicycle. The Western Ohio Woodworking Club also awarded him Best Floor Standing. The music and worship department faculty at Cedarville University will perform a concert to open a local celebration of Mozart on Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center’s Recital Hall.

The opening concert will feature Mozart’s instrumental and operatic works with a violin sonata, selections from “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Cosi fan tutte” as well as a piano duo.

In another showcase event for Cedarville University’s school of engineering and computer science, eight students will demonstrate its urban concept car, “Urbie,” during media day at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The event, held in Cobo Center, will be on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

The team of Cedarville University students was invited by Shell Oil because of its consistent participation, and good showing, in the annual Shell Eco-Marathon competition. During the media day, a Penske stock car driver will test drive “Urbie” for the purpose of promoting the 2015 Shell-Eco Marathon on April 9-12 in Detroit.

Real-world professional experience is something college students typically gain after graduation. One Cedarville University student, Annisa Albury, has had the opportunity to gain this experience while helping a beloved faculty member after his near-fatal bike accident.

George Huff, professor of social work at Cedarville University, was severely injured on July 21 when a truck hit him while he was biking along Old Route 35. The injuries were serious to the point that Huff admitted in a recent chapel program that he didn’t think he would survive while resting in the weeds along the road.

This paper considers the function of art as a healing power in Vizzini's It's Kind of A Funny Story. It examines the problem of male adolescent depression, especially considering Foucault's theory of the negative powers of the panopticon. It then turns to the study of art therapy, concluding that the act of creation can enable an individual to escape from the pressures of an panoptic society.
