This study is an overview of the process of bureaucratic reform in Indonesia along with examples of best and bad practices in policy implementation. The implementation of policy is essential to the future of Indonesian bureaucracy and governance. Phytoplankton-Water Quality Relationship In Water Bodies In The Mekong Delta, Vietnam, Giao Thanh Nguyen, Huynh Thi Hong Nhien
Applied Environmental Research
The study was conducted in March 2019 in three areas subject to impacts of agricultural production, residential areas and landfill in An Giang(Area 1), Kien Giang (Area 2) and Can Tho (Area 3), respectively, to assess relationship between water quality and diversity of phytoplankton. The results showed that water quality at 25 study sites is contaminated with organic matters, suspended solids and coliforms. The study found 422 species of phytoplankton belonging to five phyla of Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta, Dinophyta, Cyanophyta and Euglenophyta. The density of phytoplankton in the three studied areas ranged from 13 to 77,328 individuals L-1. Among the areas, …

Demand for chicken meat has been increasing tremendously over the years globally at an average 2.4% per annum and in the Philippines at an average of 3.4% per annum. In view of the sustainable development goal (SDG) 13: Climate Change, the chicken meat sector needs to embark on more efficient production. Thailand has one of the highest usage of plastic bags globally, with over 45,000 million plastic carrier bags used annually. Because of its high plastic consumption and mismanagement of plastic waste, Thailand was ranked sixth globally in terms of its contribution to marine plastic pollution in 2015. While many countries have introduced plastic bag charges or taxes to reduce consumption, the Thai government is reluctant to do likewise due to political concerns about whether the public will accept this. Environmental contaminations with pesticides are considered as one of the major environmental pathways of human exposure leading to a potential threat to human health, especially if there is an accumulation in the trophic levels. This study purposed to investigate the level of pesticide residues and the potential health risk associated with vegetables, surface water, and sediment obtained from the river basin area. The concentrations of 87 pesticides from four main groups namely; organophosphate, organochlorine, pyrethroid, and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) were verified by triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS. This qualitative case study research aims to explore the work context under technological and social media control and also the impacts on early childhood teachers and caregivers. The data was collected from 41 early childhood teachers and caregivers in Bangkok and Chiang Mai province by using purposive sampling technique. In-depth interview and non-participant observation methods were used. The study reveals that early childhood teachers and caregivers had to work under the control of instruction media technology, work monitoring equipments, communication technology via applications on smart phones and communication via online social media. This article examines the concept of basic income, its policy application in certain countries and the associated controversies in the midst of neo-liberalism. It employs a rights-based approach in examining the social protection system, seeing universal basic income as a socio-economic policy appropriate to all citizens and constituting the floor of social protection in line with the proposal made by the International Labour Organization (ILO). It argues that, in fact, in allocating benefits to target populations, attention should be paid to the provision of money and benefits without conditions. This article examines the surge of political activities surrounding the 17th general elections in 2019 for the Indian lower House of Parliament or "Lok Sabha", in which there were 900 million voters, using data collected from Indian government organizations and online news media. Scholarly works on Islamophobia in Thailand always focus on the state's marginalization of Islam in Thai historiography and ultimately makes Muslims become strangers. I argue that the negative labeling of Islam has not only been adopted by the Thai state to support its militarization in the three southern provinces, but is also reproduced by conservative Buddhists to seek supports from the governmentand Buddhist followersthemselves.Therefore, IslamophobiainThailand cannot be understood without scrutinizing Buddhist groups who reproduce hatred and anti-Islam campaigns.
