Presidential Rankings, Legacy, And Economic Performance 1869-2013, Harry M. Hipler
Presidential Rankings, Legacy, And Economic Performance 1869-2013, Harry M. Hipler
Harry M Hipler
The economy influences presidents’ rankings by scholars. Based on initial observations of presidents from 1869 to 2013 and a quantitative correlation coefficient analysis of these presidents by examining unemployment and GDP, there is a moderate positive correlation between economic performance and presidential greatness for US presidents from 1869 to 2013. Thus, for a president to have an opportunity to achieve greatness status, he must have a positive economic performance record during his administration in office without which he will not obtain presidential greatness. Contrasting with previous literature and research, my result supports the necessity and constructive importance of economic performance …

Behavioral Economics: Origins, Methodology And “Work Tools”, Daniel A. Monroy

This paper has two main objectives: (i) The main objective is to propose a theoretical and methodological delimitation of the Behavioral Economics approach. In this point, the paper argues that such delimitation involves a permanent tension with the hypotheses of rational choice theory of human behavior. (ii) The secondary objective of the paper focuses on the methodology submitted, for this, we present a couple of case studies in order to explain and test such methodology. Furthermore, the case studies will allow us to determinate some work tools of the Behavioral Economics approach.

Positive Youth Development Resources, Leadership Efficacy, And Transition Outcomes Among Young Adults In North Carolina Families United Programs, Mason G. Haber
Mason G. Haber
Since 2009, NC Families United has worked with a team at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) to evaluate its programs supporting transition to adulthood of youth ages 16 to 25 (i.e., “transition-age”) youth with mental health conditions. Two programs have been the focus of the evaluation: 1) an intensive case management program for youth, Transition Mentoring, which uses a promising practice to support youth in achieving their transition-related goals (the Rehabilitation for Empowerment, Natural Supports, Education, & Work [RENEW] model); 2) the Youth Leadership Series (YLS), a multi-session curriculum to help youth with mental health conditions advocate …
Evaluation Of The Utility Of Deciduous Molar Morphological Variation In Great Ape Phylogenetic Analysis, Anna M. Hardin, Scott S. Legge
Evaluation Of The Utility Of Deciduous Molar Morphological Variation In Great Ape Phylogenetic Analysis, Anna M. Hardin, Scott S. Legge
Scott Legge
Non-metric dental traits are well- established tools for anthropologists investigating population affiliation and movement in humans. Nonetheless, similar traits in the great apes have received considerably less attention. The present study provides data on non-metric trait variability in the deciduous molars of great apes from museum context. Twenty-eight traits are observed in the upper and lower deciduous molars in specimens of Pan troglodytes, Pan paniscus, Gorilla gorilla, and Gorilla beringei. These groups are compared based on trait frequencies and mean measures of divergence. This study demonstrates the variability of non-metric traits in the deciduous molars of chimpanzees and gorillas. These …

Cross Border Community Research, Opportunities And Challenges: Case Study Analyses, Paulette Meikle, Stephen A. King
Stephen A. King
In the context of a global knowledge economy, this paper underscores the need for cross border social and community research and suggests several critical procedures necessary for successful implementation of such research projects. Using data derived from diverse sources it describes the importance of cross border knowledge sharing, and critical procedures that enlarge the perimeter of traditional teaching and learning experiences. It further describes the advantages of implementing a combination of in-class instruction and field-based activities in international settings. A discussion of the constraints and benefits of conducting social and community-based fieldwork in politically stable developing countries follows.

Providing technical know-how to non-technical researchers to promote and preserve their collections online is an emerging niche librarians are filling. Digital humanities partners are sometimes external to the library’s institution. DePaul University Library assisted researchers at the National University of Ireland, Galway in preserving their catalogue of Vincentian documents by migrating metadata from an unstable server to Omeka.net, a hosted web publishing platform designed for cultural institutions. The library proposed Omeka.net after considering the collection’s requirements, the technical abilities of the researchers and their budget. The library contributed their expertise of metadata by analyzing, re-encoding, and cross-walking metadata to Dublin …

Digital World Of Information: An Overview Of Digital Library, Hirdyesh Kumar Singh

Digital libraries have become of increasing significance in recent years, developing in functionality and content, and becoming accessible to a wider community of users. The digital library will provide a seamless environment where the co-operative access, filtering, manipulation, generation, and preservation of these documents will be supported as a continuous cycle. Users of the library will be both consumers and producers of information, either by themselves or in collaborations with other users. The realization of these new digital libraries requires both the provision of a new technology and a change in the role played by the libraries in the information …

Abstract Many Asian countries have been beneficiaries of quota abolition for textile and clothing sector since 2005. After the implementation of the Agreement on Textile and Clothing (ATC) in December 2004, member countries of World Trade Organization (WTO) have quota-free trade except People’s Republic of China (PRC). It was expected that Pakistan will be beneficiaries in textile and clothing due to expected superior export performance in this sector. Therefore, this study aims estimating revealed comparative advantage (RCA) of textile and clothing sector of Pakistan at HS-2digit level and SITC-3 digit level. It reveals Pakistan has comparative advantage in textile sector …
