The Efficient-Market Hypothesis During A Recession, Jill Marie Williams
The Efficient-Market Hypothesis During A Recession, Jill Marie Williams
Undergraduate Honors Capstone Projects
The phrase, "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" may make a portfolio manager shudder. I first learned about this theory while reading a book of the same name by Burton G. Malkiel. I saw the last four years crashing down around me as I read about the competition I would be facing upon graduation–a blindfolded chimpanzee.
The random walk theorizes that the stock market is so efficient that a blindfolded chimpanzee can throw darts at the Wall Street Journal to select a portfolio of stocks that will perform equally as well as those managed by the experts. Unfortunately for the …
The Effects Of Performance Feedback On Exercise, Physiological Reactivity, And Affective State Among Hostile College Students, Crystal Chia-Sheng Lin
The Effects Of Performance Feedback On Exercise, Physiological Reactivity, And Affective State Among Hostile College Students, Crystal Chia-Sheng Lin
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Hostility has been found to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. One proposed pathway between hostility and cardiovascular disease is an increase in cardiovascular reactivity among hostile individuals when faced with challenging, competitive situations, in which interpersonal stressors are present. A potential situation that may elicit this exaggerated reactivity is found in cardiac rehabilitation exercise programs. Such factors may be competition and feedback regarding their performance. This study sought to find out how hostile individuals would respond physiologically, behaviorally, and affectively when presented with negative and positive performance feedback, while exercising in a challenging, competitive setting. It was found …
An Investigation Of The Prevalence And Nature Of Child Sexual Abuse Among The Deaf Population, Rachelle Hester
An Investigation Of The Prevalence And Nature Of Child Sexual Abuse Among The Deaf Population, Rachelle Hester
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence rates and effects of child sexual abuse in both deaf and hearing individuals living in Utah. A total of 104 deaf and 69 hearing individuals responded to the survey. The survey inquired about participants' experiences with sexual abuse and their mental health status.
The difference in rates of abuse between the two groups was not statistically significant. However, deaf individuals tended to be abused more often than hearing individuals. Deaf victims also experienced more severe forms of abuse and were abused more frequently than hearing victims. However, hearing victims experienced …

Examines a number of sites revealing how people from a particular period utilized different uplands resources, elevation, and settings as they made the transition to a more sedentary life-way. These Uinta Mountains sites represent hitherto little know portions of regional settlement and subsistence patterns, and complement the more extensive published research on lowland occupations

The Ideological Development Of U.S. Government Publication, 1820-1920: From Jefferson To Croly, John Walters
John Walters
Abstract-This paper traces the development of an ideology for U.S. government publication, focusing primarily on dominant strands of political thought during the antebellum period, the gilded age, and the progressive era. This paper examines political thought that inhibited the development of an ideology of U.S. government publication, such as the antistatism of Thomas Jefferson and the Social Darwinism of Herbert Spencer and William Graham Sumner; it focuses also on American political thought that fostered its development, such as the Positivism of Lester Frank Ward, the Pragmatism of John Dewey, and the Progressivism of Herbert Croly
