Mobile Visual Search (MVS) is an emerging area of research given the explosion of smart and powerful mobile devices. Typically, the performance of MVS applications is influenced by the implemented image processing algorithms as well as various distortions that occur when capturing images by the mobile camera. This paper examines the joint effect of two common distortions, namely the illumination changes and image blurring on image matching accuracy for print media when using four state-of-the art local feature algorithms. Broadcast is a fundamental operation in wireless networks and is well supported by the wireless channel. However, the interference resulting from a node's transmission pose a key challenge to the design of any broadcast algorithms/protocols. In particular, it is well known that a node's interference range is much larger than its transmission range and thus limits the number of transmitting and receiving nodes, which inevitably prolong broadcast. In this paper, we develop a Software Defined Radio (SDR) test bed to evaluate the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) effects over SISO and 2 x 1MIMO systems. It can be observed that under asynchronous transmissions, the Gold code leads to the best performance over both systems due to the fact that it has the best correlation properties. We also find the MAI effects in terms of the spreading sequences pairs on MIMO-STS systems. We propose a criterion for selecting promising spreading sequences for MIMO systems. In the class of surfaces with fixed boundary, critical points of the Willmore functional are naturally found to be those solutions of the Euler-Lagrange equation where the mean curvature on the boundary vanishes. We consider the case of symmetric surfaces of revolution in the setting where there are two families of stable solutions given by the catenoids. In this paper we demonstrate the existence of a third family of solutions which are unstable critical points of the Willmore functional, and which spatially lie between the upper and lower families of catenoids. The dielectric properties of nematic liquid crystal (LC) mixtures are measured from 300 GHz to 1500 GHz. Measurements are performed in a standard THz TDS setup. Refractive index and extinction coefficient for parallel and perpendicular orientation are calculated and compared to results obtained at 19 GHz. The investigated mixtures are of interest for Terahertz devices as their properties stay almost constant from 19 GHz to 1500 GHz.

The effect of long term exposure of full size bolts to corrosive environments is presented. A special test rig was used to test four bolts under different loading conditions. Four, X-grade identical corrosioin testing using acid sulphate water. the pH value of the curculated water varied between 3.4 and 4.3. The corrosion exposure test period lasted three and half years. This paper presents a combined nonlinear and circular features extraction-based condition monitoring method for low speed slewing bearing. The proposed method employs the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) algorithm as a signal processing method based on vibration data. LLE is used to detect chaos existence in vibration data in discrete angular positions of the shaft. From the processed data, circular features such as mean, skewness and kurtosis are calculated and monitored. The upper bound method of plasticity limit analysis is used to estimate the ultimate capacity of laterally loaded long piles. Based on a generic limiting force (or the ultimate soil resistance per unit length) profile, both freehead and fixed-head piles are considered. The current solutions can be reduced to available solutions for some special cases. Design charts may be constructed to estimate the lateral capacity of piles in terms of plastic moment and the parameters describing the limiting force profile.

As the applications of AHSS for the automotive industry are increasing significantly within the last decade, it becomes more and more important to develop a new forming technology as an alternative or even a replacement to roll forming to overcome the difficulties and problems of manufacturing the AHSS parts. The springback of the material with higher strength and thinner thickness becomes more difficult to predict, which directly affects the application of roll forming in AHSS.
