This study assessed the information literacy (IL) instruction perceptions and practices of faculty at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania. An online survey was distributed to all faculty members in five schools and one institute at MUHAS (235 in total) from 2011 to 2012, with a response rate of (34.5 percent). The study findings show a general support for IL development, and its importance in enabling students to do library-based research. Collaborative Research In Economics In Pakistan: The Case Of Pakistan Development Review From 1973 To 2009, Sajjad Ullah Jan, Mumtaz Ali Anwar

ABSTRACT

The pattern of collaborative authorship (extent of international collaboration and degree of collaboration) and institutional affiliation in the papers of the Pakistan Development Review were determined by using bibliometric techniques. The sample used was the papers published during 1973-2009. Of the 1627 papers, 723 (44.44%) were the result of collaborative effort. International collaboration was observed only in 94 papers. The degree of collaboration was 0.44 as a whole and the year-wise calculated degree ranged between 0.13 and 0.76. The year 2009 was the most productive year in terms of collaborative research.

This paper presents the findings of a bibliometric study one of the renowned journal “Library Trends” into consideration with an aim to analyse the contributions of the author and the citations cited by various articles appeared in it. The present study comprises of 206 articles published in the said journal from 2007-2012. Highest number (51) of articles is published in 2007-08. Majority of authors preferred to publish their research results in individual authorship mode 122 (59.22%). The majority of articles 63 (30.58%) have the length of 16-20 pages. The highest number of contributions with citations between 11-20 is 48 (23.30%).

The present article has made an attempt to study the faculty perception on Library faculties in Autonomous Arts and Science Colleges in one of the biggest cities in Tamil Nadu, India. There colleges got accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India, hence the standard of education and faculties in these colleges are generally behind to be the best. The study used a questionnaire and the results revealed that faculty have a low perception on the collection, services, ICT facilities, manpower and infrastructure facilities of libraries in these colleges.

However, public universities in Ghana have generally not been financing their libraries to the quantum that has been recommended by the Universities Rationalization Committee in Ghana. Bibliometrics is the discipline where quantitative methods were employed to probe scientific communication process by measuring and analyzing various aspects of written documents. It helps to monitor growth of literature and patterns of research. This paper examines the articles published in Journal of Documentation for authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, geographical distribution of papers and citation analysis. The study used a survey approach that involved questionnaires to solicit data from 154 academics. This paper traced origin of library and information science education in Nigeria to the advent of new technologies in academic libraries. It investigated professional competencies that are currently expected of library professionals in academic libraries. The population comprised 89 professionals in South East of Nigeria Federal Universities. Copies of a structured questionnaire were used for data collection from respondents.
