Self-Citations In Annals Of Library And Information Studies, Gurjeet Kaur Rattan

The present study has been carried out on the extent of self-citations in Annals of Library and Information Studies during the period of 2002-2012. The results indicate that 53.72% of the articles contain self-citations. Out of total 5261 citations, the 636 (12.08%) citations are self-citations. Frequency of self-citations per article ranges from one to forty three. Almost 1/5th authors have cited themselves. Most of the citations appear in the present title of the journal. The most self-citing author is V. L. Kalyane from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.

In this study, the researcher attempted to relate user education programmes of ASCETA and AIFCE with library use. Validated structured questionnaire and interview schedule were used to collect data. The research answered four (4) research questions and tested one hypothesis. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. A study was conducted to assess the quality of websites of five selected public universities in Tanzania. The main purpose of the study was to understand the quality of university websites from users’ perspectives. This study employed a 22-item instrument measuring four dimensions of web quality namely technical adequacy, information quality, service ability and web appearance. This study investigated the awareness and use of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) by students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. A questionnaire was distributed to 800 students at various faculties and in different levels of studies in August 2012. Bibliometric analysis for 160 theses and 739 thesis articles collected from the Botany Department at The University of Burdwan in eight subdivisions of Botany during 1960-2000 has been carried out to determine year wise productivity, authorship pattern and collaboration. The study has identified that the highest number of thesis submission was 40 during 1981-1985 and the highest number of article submission was 189 during 1976-1980.
