The study analyzed the use of Internet services by faculty members of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Meerut , Uttar Pradesh, India. Sixty structured questionnaires were distributed among faculty members of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology. Faculty gave information on Internet usage, sources of information about websites, favorite search engines, problems faced by users, satisfaction with the Internet for research purposes, and facilities infrastructure available in the libraries.

The requirement to do research and publication to gain promotion and tenure is growing Nigerian academic libraries. This study surveys the literature on this topic and reports on a survey of librarians at one institution, including their research output, educational background, attendance at conferences, and barriers to doing research. Lack of education and training and lack of time were the primary factors having a negative effect on research output.

Access To Health Information By People Living With Hiv/Aids In Nigeria, Nelson Edewor

This study is a survey of access to health information by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Nigeria. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 120 respondents. The data obtained were analysed using simple percentages. The study reveals that libraries are not used as sources of health information by PLWHA. The study recommends that libraries should repackage information for PLWHA, educate users, and organise awareness/outreach services in collaboration with NGOs on the subject of HIV/AIDS.

In Bangladesh, most people (80 percent) live in villages and Community Information Service (CIS) facilities remain low. Different organizations provide information services but these services are not always made in accordance with ommunity needs. This article discusses initiatives taken in Bangladesh and explores how public libraries can play a key role in developing CIS.

This study investigated the information-seeking behaviors of polytechnic students. Five hundred students were randomly selected and a questionnaire was used to gathering data. The findings revealed that academic information is the major reason why students seek information and the library is the major source of information.

The paper evaluates the success of programmes of the Federal Government of Nigeria in improving funding of university libraries. The World Bank loan, 10 percent direct allocation, and the Education Trust Fund (ETF) interventions were found to be beneficial to library acquisitions. Interventions like the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and National Universities Commission (NUC) central book purchase scheme as beneficial. Prudent management of funds at Hezekiah Oluwasanmi library has been of help since the stoppage of direct allocation from NUC. It is recommended that the government should involve end users of intervention programmes in planning and execution of future programmes.

This study evaluates the educational and information needs and information-seeking behaviour of the faculty members of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used with one hundred faculty members. One hundred fifty questionnaires were distributed and 100 returned. The data showed that most faculty (76%) consider the Internet the most useful source of information, along with books, journals, and informal channels. The teachers from Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Islamic Learning also want up-to-date resources relevant to their fields via a digital library. Organizing events with outside speakers can bring lasting benefits to students, faculty, and the community. This article highlights the need for advance preparation when organizing an event. Librarians must clearly define objectives to maximize participation and ensure that events are linked to courses. When real-world events are linked to students' academic experience, they are more actively engaged and can be more involved in their studies. This study assessed the quality of library services rendered, identified faculty expectations of librarians, and ascertained the disparity in user expectations between private and public universities. Three hundred questionnaires were administered to respondents from Covenant University and the University of Lagos, and two hundred and forty were completed. The study revealed that the quality of services currently rendered is higher in the private university than in the public university.

This paper investigated students’ use of the campus wide network in accessing library resources and services in Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Nnamdi Azikiwe Library was selected because it is a University Library that has adopted wireless connectivity services so as to satisfy the needs of its community. Questionnaire was adopted as an instrument for data collection and was randomly distributed to the students. 1000 students selected using stratified random sampling, constituted the sample size out of a population of 39,000 students. Environmental awareness is a pre-condition for environment-friendly behaviour and sustainable environment; proper awareness of environment related issues is therefore pertinent. This study examined awareness and accessibility of environmental information in Nigeria with specific reference to Warri Central Local Government Area of Delta state. Philosophers have long considered autonomy a primary moral value, essential to living a flourishing life. Although library scholarship has not often engaged deeply with the philosophical discourse surrounding autonomy, libraries and librarians are uniquely positioned to enact many of the methods for encouraging it.
