Mmpi: An Attempt To Fake Profiles Of Policemen, Odie M. Swift
Mmpi: An Attempt To Fake Profiles Of Policemen, Odie M. Swift
Masters Theses
Personality, uses of personality tests, and problems associated with reliability of personality tests are briefly discussed. The Kroger and Turnbull (1975) study dealing with "role-faking" is discussed. The review of the literature discusses the occupation of policeman under three categories: 1) assessment of policemen, 2) MMPI and police assessment, and 3) MMPI studies. The MMPI was given to 18 policemen, 43 male college students, and 40 female college students. The students were assigned to a control condition and an experimental condition. Subjects in the experimental group answered MMPI questions the way they thought policemen would answer the questions. An analysis …

Performance On A Drl Schedule As A Function Of Deprivation Levels, Scott E. Memenga
Performance On A Drl Schedule As A Function Of Deprivation Levels, Scott E. Memenga
Masters Theses
Twelve male albino rats were divided into three groups that were exposed to a DRL-18 second schedule of reinforcement. Each group was maintained at 70%, 80%, and 90% ad lib weight respectively during 28 days of acqusition training. The 70% ad lib weight group demonstrated continued superior performance over the other two groups after the 10th day. The 80% and 90% groups evidenced little difference between each other until the 20th day when the 80% group showed slightly better performance. Performance was based on the mean time-response efficiency ratios [(reinforced responses/ total responses) + (reinforced responses/ total possible reinforced responses)/ …
The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
Masters Theses
The study of suicide is the study of individuals, each of whom can be considered a unique entity. However, in the course of studying suicide case histories, some demographic variables seem to repeat themselves as differentiating potential suicides from persons who will never attempt or commit suicide. The purpose of this paper is to determine which social history variables correlate significantly with subjects who have made a definite suicide attempt or gesture.
The basic question raised by this thesis was: What factors in a person's social history correlate significantly to an increased probability of having made a suicide attempt or …
The Social History Questionnaire As A Predictor Of Therapeutic Outcome, Susan E. Suter
The Social History Questionnaire As A Predictor Of Therapeutic Outcome, Susan E. Suter
Masters Theses
One of the most critical problems encountered in clinical practice concerns the outcome criteria used for predicting therapeutic improvement. At present, there is no single outcome criteria that is universally accepted as evidence of improvement. Representative studies by Lubarsky et al (1971) have emphasized the magnitude of this problem by citing the many patient variables that may effect the outcome of a therapeutic relationship.
The importance of this therapeutic relationship in terms of time and committment on the part of both the therapist and the client, necessitates some objective means for first, the development of an instrument that can measure …
An Investigation Of The Behavioral Effects Of Methylphenidate Hydrochloride On Schedule-Induced Polydipsia In Rats, Linda Sederquist Smith
An Investigation Of The Behavioral Effects Of Methylphenidate Hydrochloride On Schedule-Induced Polydipsia In Rats, Linda Sederquist Smith
Masters Theses
The influence of methylphenidate hydrochloride injections on six male Charles River rats displaying schedule induced polydipsia was examined in this study. Bar pressing, licking, and water consumption were measured during a total of 63 daily one hour trials conducted with a variable interval 60-second schedule of bar pressing for pellets with water constantly available. The polydipsic response was acquired by subjects during the first 28 trials. Subjects were then divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental subjects recieved a 1 mg/kg injection of methylphenidate prior to regular trials 29-49 and extinction trials 50-63. Control subjects were injected with a …

"Project Dial": An Early Childhood Screening Program, Lewis S. Sarff
Masters Theses
This field study addressed the problem of "actively seeking" out and identifying children (ages 3 to 5 years) likely to develop late learning problems upon school enrollment. The procedures developed and reported in this paper deal with initial public relations, facilities, personnel, an evaluation instrument Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL), hearing and vision testing, and reporting of results to parents and school personnel.
The paper also includes means and standard deviations for DIAL subtest scores by one year age groups and by sex, as well as simple and multiple r's for each of the DIAL variables individually …

The Social History Delinquency Scale, Mary A. Byrne
Masters Theses
Twenty four delinquents from Coles County, Ill. and twenty four non-delinquents were given the Social History Questionnaire (Best and Ericksen, 1973). The two groups were matched on age, sex, and self-reported social status. An item analysis was performed and the questions which differentiated between the delinquents and the nondelinquents were identified. A delinquency subscale was then developed from the 54 significant questions.

Human Genetic Isolation And Population Structure Of Hancock County, Tennessee, James R. Kirkland
Human Genetic Isolation And Population Structure Of Hancock County, Tennessee, James R. Kirkland
Masters Theses
A study of the population structure of Hancock County, Tennessee, was conducted in order to determine the degree of genetic isolation, and the likelihood of random genetic drift, experienced by the county population. Genealogical information for the study was obtained from a random sample of the population utilizing two series of questionnaires. In all, data were obtained for 275 couples from all areas of Hancock County.
Four main analytical steps were taken with these data to determine: (1) the amount of inbreeding, through a surname isonymy study, (2) the effective population size, (3) the patterns of human movement, primarily marital …
