World Coffee Markets And National Coffee Parastatals Since 1989: A Comparative Study Of Colombia And Cote D'Ivoire, Laura Elizabeth Boudon

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The International Coffee Agreements (ICA) involved the majority of nations producing and consuming coffee and provided relative economic stability to the coffee sectors of the exporting Third World countries. This study focuses on the serious impact of the 1989 collapse of the ICA on the domestic coffee sectors of Colombia and Cote d'Ivoire. In particular, the dissertation examines the role of the Colombian and Ivoirian coffee parastatals, the Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia and the Caisse de Stabilisation et Soutien des Prix des Produits Agricoles, during the crisis and their transformation by it.

The Anchor: 2000

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Her mother was born in the colonies and her father, Samuel, was born in Poland. Samuel was a journalist for Jewish papers, a theater critic, a scholar, and the head of the Kultur Congress. He initiated love of Jewish culture and traditions- as well as socialism-into his children. They didn't only speak Yiddish at home, they lived Yiddish culture. She attended state (public) and Yiddish laic schools and became a teacher in various Jewish schools.A s a young girl she practically lived in the Yiddish theater.
