Harmless Constitutional Error: How A Minor Doctrine Meant To Improve Judicial Efficiency Is Eroding America's Founding Ideals, Ross C. Reggio Jan 2019

Harmless Constitutional Error: How A Minor Doctrine Meant To Improve Judicial Efficiency Is Eroding America's Founding Ideals, Ross C. Reggio

CMC Senior Theses

The United States Constitution had been in existence for almost two hundred years before the Supreme Court decided that some violations of constitutional rights may be too insignificant to warrant remedial action. Known as "harmless error," this statutory doctrine allows a court to affirm a conviction when a mere technicality or minor defect did not affect the defendant's substantial rights. Dependent Care Fsas Work For Low- To Moderate-Income Families: 5 Action Steps For Policymakers, Sophia Fox-Dichter, Ellen Frank-Miller, Sloane Wolter

• Using a DCFSA may require certainty about a year’s worth of child care …

Social Policy Institute Research

Employee financial wellness programs (EFWPs) are gaining in popularity as a strategy to address workers' financial challenges and goals beyond offering health and retirement benefits. Most workers say they are stressed about their finances1 and a third are less productive at work because of this stress.2 Although employers are increasingly interested in offering EFWPs, little research has been conducted concerning these workplace financial products and services.

Dissertations

Problem

Despite the advancement in resilience research, and although mental health professionals are encouraged to become culturally competent, it is still unclear how I/C cultural orientation influence various protective factors that contribute to resilience. Individualists emphasize independence and autonomy while collectivists emphasize interdependence and in-group consensus (Hofstede, 1991; Markus & Kitayama, 1991). Therefore, it is expected that the protective factors that promote resilience will also operate differently for individualists as compared to collectivists (Triandis, 1995).
