Practice And Enlightenment Of Foreign Main Funding Agencies In Promoting Scientists’ Engagement In Science Communication, Kunpeng Qi, Zhimin Zhang, Leipo Jia, Xi Yang, Yunxiao Zhang, Tianxiao Gao, Cong Wang
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
As scientists have a deeper understanding of science than other groups, they are irreplaceable in science communication. Funding agencies, which are important part of science system, are gradually devoted to promoting scientists' engagement in science communication, in order to strengthen the mutual relationship between science and society. This study investigates the practice of several funding agencies in promoting scientists' engagement in science communication, such as proposing initiatives and policies, offering fundings, setting up awards, and providing technical supports. Based on it, this study further discusses that the roles should funding agencies take, and tries to bring up policy suggestions in …

Thinking On Strategic Research Of Dual Carbon By High-End Sci-Tech Think Tank, Dawei Song
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
As the world's largest energy produce, consume, and carbon emission country, China's road map, construction map, and timetable for achieving the dual carbon goal, i.e., peaking carbon emission and achieving carbon neutrality, have attracted worldwide attention, and to achieve such goal, China has to strategically transform its energy system. This energy strategic transformation process is essentially a process for China to build its strength in manufacture, in science and technology, and in a strong economy. High-end sci-tech think tank should take the dual carbon strategic research as an important task to play the role of gathering wisdom and offering advices, …

Application And Review Of Biotechnology In Promoting Protective Utilization Of Black Soil, Xianwei Song, Baocai Zhang, Yang Bai, Duofeng Pan, Xiangdong Deng, Hongsheng Wang, Bo Sun, Xiaofeng Cao
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
In the past 60 years, the highly-intensive and unreasonable farming of the black soil in Northeast China has brought a series of adverse consequences such as the reduction of organic matter, the serious imbalance of carbon and nitrogen, and the instability of microbiota, which seriously threaten China's food security and agricultural sustainable development. The decrease of organic matter content in black soil is the core issue in the degradation of black soil. Organisms are the source of all organic matter, and the dynamic balance of organic matter driven by organisms is the basis for maintaining the stability of farmland ecosystem …

Review Of Eu’S Carbon Neutral Policy System And Its Enlightenment, Liping Dong, Jingjing Zeng, Jiansheng Qu, Huijuan Pei, Qin Liao, Yanfei Liu, Lina Liu, Bingxue Qin
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
Carbon neutrality is a redefinition of human development mode, and a "self-reform" of the production paradigm. It not only affects the economic development of various countries, but also rebuilds the global geopolitical pattern. Since 2060 carbon neutrality target was proposed in September 2020, China has been working hard on exploring how to establish a system of the carbon neutral policy. By considering the system of carbon neutral policy in European Union that is relatively mature, this study comprehensively reviews and analyzes the EU's system of carbon neutral policy from policy framework, key industry measures, R&D deployment support, and fiscal and …

Development Experience Of International Open Source And Its Enlightenment To Construction Of Open Source Innovation System In China, Yuntao Long, Xiaoming Wang, Rong Gu, Yungang Bao
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
Open source has become an essential innovation model for global technological progress and the construction of an open source innovation system is an important path for China to achieve self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology. As an indispensable part of the global software value chain and high-tech industry chain, China needs to improve its open source innovation ecosystem. The paper, based on a systematic review of the related development policies and successful experiences on the open source work in US and Europe, puts forward a series of policy suggestions to solve the practical problems faced by the construction of …

The building industry currently consumes over a third of energy produced and emits 39% of greenhouse gases globally produced by human activities. The manufacturing of building materials and the construction of buildings make up 11% of those emissions within the sector. Whole-building life-cycle assessment is a holistic and scientific tool to assess multiple environmental impacts with internationally accepted inventory databases. A comparison of the building lifecycle assessment results would help to select materials and designs to reduce total environmental impacts at the early planning stage for architects and developers, and to revise the building code to improve environmental performance. The …

The Last Nephite Scribes, Noel B. Reynolds
Faculty Publications
This paper leverages the insights of modern scholars on the scribal schools of the ancient near east to identify and track the Nephite scribal school across the ten centuries of the Nephite dispensation. Mormon tells us his abridgment only includes a hundredth part of the Nephite history available to him on the Large Plates of Nephi. That being the case, it is especially impressive that his abridgment tracks the responsibility for maintaining and preserving the Nephite record and other sacred objects—the responsibility of the scribes—across that millennium without gaps. Mormon and his son Moroni were themselves trained scribes who could …

Rad Managers: Strategic Coaching For Managers And Leaders, Audrey Mika Kinase Kolb
Industrial-Organizational Psychology Dissertations
Objective: Managerial coaching is a nascent area of research; as such there are few models supported by independent inquiry endorsing their effectiveness in impacting employee outcomes. The purpose of the current investigation was to present a concise, practical model of managerial coaching (RAD: relationships, accountability, development) that can be used for teaching and evaluating coaching behaviors. The model was hypothesized to predict ratings of coaching effectiveness (CE), perceptions of supervisor support (PSS), occupational self-efficacy (OSE), and work engagement (WE). Further, each factor of the model was tested in a series of secondary hypotheses to determine which factors were …

Self-Reported Life Events Among Deaf Emerging Adults—An Exploratory Study, Debra H. Zand, Katherine Pierce
JADARA
This study was undertaken to investigate the self-reported life experiences of a national sample of deaf emerging adults (18 to 30 years). Recruitment was completed through deaf computer listserves. Participants (N=44) rated a variety of life experiences regarding occurrence, impact and valence. A median split was conducted on the age variable yielding 2 groups: younger and older. Results show a trend with the older group reporting events consistent with later stages of emerging adulthood; the younger group experiencing events consistent with early stages of young adulthood (same progression as hearing peers). Implications of these findings and future directions are discussed.

Green house Cultures or the New Age of Agrarian Capitalism in Morocco:The Case of Souss-Massa
In this text we will try to analyze the socio-geographic and economic issues of the development of this new agricultural strategy. At first glance, it should be noted that the few research works which have tackled the theme of “protected crops” in Morocco have been rather interested in the technical aspects of this new agricultural practice (Ghallab, 1986), (Tazi, 1986) . As well as the International Meeting which was devoted to this theme in the Mediterranean region (colloquium, 1996)was, above all, the opportunity to exchange …

Linguistic Theories and the Notion of Interaction
Language only exists through a subject who speaks it and communicates through it with another subject. Yet linguistics, paradoxically, has long ruled out of its field of study this fundamental property of language. Saussure's attitude, which is at the basis of this difference, is exemplary in this regard. Language for him is conceived as a sort of treasure possessed by subjects belonging to the same community. It is a system of rules that we try to describe and classify, without going beyond the limits of the sentence.
