Even before the [Natural Resources Law] Center was established [in the fall of 1981], the [University of Colorado] School of Law was organizing annual natural resources law summer short courses. To date four programs have been presented:
- July 1980: "Federal Lands, Laws and Policies and the Development of Natural Resources"
- June 1981: "Water Resources Allocation: Laws and Emerging Issues"
- June 1982: "New Sources of Water for Energy Development and Growth: lnterbasin Transfers"
- June 1983: "Groundwater: Allocation, Development and Pollution"
(Reprinted from Resource Law Notes, no. 1, Jan. 1984, at 1.)

Environmental Quality 1979 - Hillsborough County Florida, Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission
Environmental Quality 1979 - Hillsborough County Florida, Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission
Reports
During 1979 at least 65,948 air quality samples were collected and analyzed from 146 sampling stations throughout Hillsborough County. Enclosed maps attempt to depict the cleaner and dirtier areas of Hillsborough County, while data summaries show where and how often air quality standards were exceeded during 1979.
During 1979, 54 salt water sampling stations were monitored for 40 parameters resulting in 25,151 samples; while 24 fresh water stations were monitored for 53 parameters resulting in 7,588 samples. Sampling averages for each parameter were ranked from lowest to highest (1-54), with the similar rankings assigned to tied average parameters. Lowest ranking …
Ute Self-Determination In Setting Tribal Resource Development Policy, Herbert H. Fullerton, Mac Mckee, Roger D. Hansen
Ute Self-Determination In Setting Tribal Resource Development Policy, Herbert H. Fullerton, Mac Mckee, Roger D. Hansen
Reports
The Ute Indian Tribe of northeastern Utah has large land holdings rich in water and energy resources. Revenues from these sources have created capital that can potentially be used by the Tribe to further develop its resources and expand its agricultural and business enterprises. Realities, however, complicate this simple scenario in that the Tribal goals are broader than pure economic gain and that increased incomes may mean sacrifices in terms of these other goals. The Tribe faces the problem of how best to develop its water resources in a way that best meets its multiplicity of needs.

Recycling Surplus Oil Funds And The Economies Of Some Non-Oil Producing Developing Countries, Patrick E. Archibong
Recycling Surplus Oil Funds And The Economies Of Some Non-Oil Producing Developing Countries, Patrick E. Archibong
Economic and Financial Review
The main objective of the paper is to examine, in general, the phenomenon of recycling against the background of enduring and fundamental disequilibria in the payments balances of the economies of non-oil producing developing countries. The technique used is, essentially, casual empiricism. In part I of the paper a brief attempt is made, using elementary micro-economic analysis, to illustrate conditions for the emergence of the surplus oil funds. Part 1 examines the mechanics and_ channels of recycling while Part 111 reflects on the attendant external debt burden of some non-oil producing developing countries. Part IV dwells on the limited effectiveness …

Effects Of Changes In Surface Water Regime And/Or Land Use On The Vertical Distribution Of Water Available For Wetland Vegetation: Dynamic Model Of The Zone Of Aeration (Part 1 Of Completion Report For Project A-023-Ark), Robert N. Maccallum, R. A. Sims
A. Sims
Technical Reports
A mathematical model by Green, simulating one-dimensional vertical ground-water movement in unsaturated soils of the prairie region of Kansas, has been adapted for use in a wetlands environment typified by the wetlands forest of Eastern Arkansas. The model consists of two second-order, non-linear, partial differential equations and an algorithm for their numerical solution. The original model was extended to include functions for seasonal changes in transpiration and for drainage of excess precipitation. Before the addition of the two functions, the model reliability was limited to one growth season.

Effects Of Changes In Surface Water Regime And/Or Land Use On The Vertical Distribution Of Water Available For Wetland Vegetation: Portable Environmental Data Logger And Sensors (Part Ii Of Completion Report For Project A-023-Ark), Robert N. Maccallum, R. A. Sims
Technical Reports
An instrumentation and recording package and several transducers were constructed and used to collect data on the environmental parameters thought to affect wetland vegetation growth and reproduction. These parameters were temperature, humidity, wind velocity, depth of water table, and amount of surface water. The data were collected four times a day and recorded on a magnetic cassette tape that could record for as long as 90 days. The tapes were read and the data were converted to engineering units by a microcomputer-based instrument constructed for that purpose.

Influence Of Las Vegas Wash Density Current On Nutrient Availability And Phytoplankton Growth In Lake Mead, John R. Baker, Larry J. Paulson
Influence Of Las Vegas Wash Density Current On Nutrient Availability And Phytoplankton Growth In Lake Mead, John R. Baker, Larry J. Paulson
Publications (WR)
Density currents are commonly formed in reservoirs because of temperature or salinity induced density differences between inflowing and receiving waters. Anderson and Pritchard (1951) were among the first to demonstrate this in their investigations of density currents in Lake Mead. They found that the Colorado River formed an underflow in Lake Mead during the winter, an overflow in the spring and an interflow in the summer and fall. Wunderlich and Elder (1973) have since described the hydromechanics of these types of flow patterns, and density currents have been reported for several other large reservoirs (Carmack et al. 1979, Johnson and …
