The Importance Of Hydraulics Of Surface Irrigation, Vaughn E. Hansen Sep 1958

The Importance Of Hydraulics Of Surface Irrigation, Vaughn E. Hansen

Reports

Summary: Surface irrigation is a complex hydraulic phenomenon. The hydraulic elements involved in surface irrigation are listed and discussed. Relating these hydraulic elements is the key to efficient irrigation, good design, and permanent agriculture.

Nebraska Tractor Tests

This report and any related files are made available to the online through the Lester F. Larsen Tractor Test and Power Museum as resources allow. Established in 1998, this museum is located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus. It is and appropriately housed within the walls of the historic 1920 Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, where the first tractor test was started on March 31st, 1920. Because the pioneer tests became worldwide standards, this location was designated as a Historic Landmark of Agricultural Engineering by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers in 1980, shortly after testing was moved to a …

Thermodynamic Properties Of The System Pucl3-Kcl, Robert Benz Aug 1958

Thermodynamic Properties Of The System Pucl3-Kcl, Robert Benz

Chemistry and Chemical Biology ETDs

This paper is a dissertation on a study of the determination of the Gibbs free energy of formation of plutonium chloride using potentiometric measurements obtained from a galvanic cell of the type,

Ta, Pu(1)/ PuCl3-KCl(1,N1)/ Cl2(g), C.

The terminals of the two electrodes, tantalum and graphite, have been included in the representation inasmuch as their effects must be taken into consideration in the design of the cell; however, in order that the desired virtual cell reaction be realized, it is necessary that these terminals be chemically inert.

Spectrophotometric Study Of The Boron- Curcumin System, Frank Xavier Pollio Aug 1958

Spectrophotometric Study Of The Boron- Curcumin System, Frank Xavier Pollio

Master's Theses

In the present research project an attempt has been made to determine the mechanism of the reaction followed in the curcumin spectrophotometric method for boron determination using a modification of Naf'tel's method.

Spectrophotometric Study Of The Boron-Curcumin System, Frank Xavier Polio Aug 1958

Spectrophotometric Study Of The Boron-Curcumin System, Frank Xavier Polio

Master's Theses

With mechanism and structure in mind, the aim of this research project was to investigate the role played by the various reagents used in the curcumin spectrophotometric method. The reagents were used in varied concentrations and at times some eliminated entirely, in the hope that a greater understanding be gained in the overall mechanism followed by the reaction.

One of the major objectives was to try to determine the structure of the colored substance formed in the reaction. A step towards this goal was gained by obtaining molar ratios of the entities suspected to be an intricate part of the …

Decahydroquinoxaline : Stereoisomers And Derivatives, Lynn Pendleton Aug 1958

Decahydroquinoxaline : Stereoisomers And Derivatives, Lynn Pendleton

Theses and Dissertations

The preparation of decahydroquinoxaline by four different methods, with no determination of geometrical configuration made, was reported in the literature. The purpose of this thesis was to establish the geometrical configurations of the decahydroquinoxalines prepared by these four methods and to determine if, as the work of previous investigators suggested, the two pure isomers of decahydroquinoxaline isomerized, each giving an equilibrium mixture of both isomers. Decahydroquinoxaline was prepared by three of the four previously reported methods of preparation. Comparison of the properties of the decahydroquinoxalines prepared and the preparation, comparison, and analyses of the diacetyl and the dinitroso derivatives of …

Rhenium Trioxide, Rhenium Heptoxide And Rehnium Trichloride As Hydrogenation Catalysts, William J. Bartley

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to characterize the catalytic activity of rhenium trioxide and rhenium trichloride as hydrogenation catalysts. Work was also undertaken to further study the catalytic properties of rhenium heptoxide. The activity of this latter compound had received some study in a previous project. A complete review of the literature has been made on the organic and inorganic chemistry of rhenium trioxide and rhenium trichloride. A survey of the literature on catalytic hydrogenation and the chemistry of rhenium heptoxide has also been included. Rhenium trioxide was prepared by three similar methods. The first two involved the formation …

Some Aspects Of The Non-Aqueous Chemistry Of The Uranium Chlorides, Richard E. Panzer Jul 1958

Some Aspects Of The Non-Aqueous Chemistry Of The Uranium Chlorides, Richard E. Panzer

Chemistry and Chemical Biology ETDs

The original object of this investigation was not only to investigate the chemistry and preparation of the complex compound, UCl5•PCl5, but to separate it into its constituents, uranium pentachloride and phosphorus pentachloride, thus establishing a new method of preparing the uranium pentachloride. Optimum conditions for the preparative reaction of UCl5•PCl5, partially investigated by Suttle (25), were to be established. Reactions were to be investigated which might be used for preparation of similar compounds of uranium pentachloride. The possible existence of other uranium pentachloride-phosphorus pentachloride compounds was to be determined. Electrolyses in phosphorus …

Synthesis Of 4, 7-Disubstituted Derivatives Of Imidazo-[4,5-D]-Pyridazine And Related Compounds, William Seese Jul 1958

Synthesis Of 4, 7-Disubstituted Derivatives Of Imidazo-[4,5-D]-Pyridazine And Related Compounds, William Seese

Chemistry and Chemical Biology ETDs

When this study was contemplated, no imidazo [4,5-d] pyridazines had been reported in the literature. Compounds of special interest due to their possible antitumor activity were the 4,7-dimercapoto-, the 4,7-diamino-, the 4-mercapto-, and the 4-aminoimidazo [4,5-d] pyridazines together with unsubstituted imidazo [4,5-d] pyridazine. Key intermediates in the preparation of substituted amines in the ring system were the 4-chloro-, and the 4,7-dichloro- derivatives.
