New Precision Orbits Of Bright Double-Lined Spectroscopic Binaries. V. The Am Stars Hd 434 And 41 Sextantis, Francis C. Fekel, Michael H. Williamson
Information Systems and Engineering Management Research Publications
We have detected the secondary component in two previously known spectroscopic binaries, HD 434 and 41 Sex, and for the first time determined double-lined orbits for them. Despite the relatively long period of 34.26 days and a moderate eccentricity of 0.32, combined with the components' rotationally broadened lines, measurement of the primary and secondary radial velocities of HD 434 has enabled us to obtain significantly improved orbital elements. While the 41 Sex system has a much shorter period of 6.167 days and a circular orbit, the estimated V mag difference of 3.2 between its components also makes this a challenging …

A Data Warehouse Solution Emphasizing The Use In Geographic Information Systems, Catherine Carpenter
A Data Warehouse Solution Emphasizing The Use In Geographic Information Systems, Catherine Carpenter
Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)
This paper will explore use of a data warehouse solution for an electric utility that generates and transmits power across four US states. The pseudonym "Utility" will be used to represent the electric utility for security reasons. At Utility "X" several systems store information that is managed in silos that, in some cases, operate on proprietary database formats. This type of usage is identified as a barrier in the development of an enterprise-wide data source. A data warehouse can ultimately help to bridge the Utility "X" information gap, and provide added accessibility for the company to further develop technology, such …

Opportunities and Obstacles to Reducing the Environmental Footprint of Natural Gas Development in Uintah Basin (October 14)
A public workshop to discuss “Opportunities and Constraints to Reducing the Environmental Footprint of Natural Gas Development” was held in Vernal, Utah on October 14, 2010 at the Vernal campus of Utah State University. The workshop was sponsored by Utah State University, The Bingham Energy Research Center; The University of Colorado Natural Resources Law Center; and the Houston Advanced Research Center, Environmentally Friendly Drilling Program.
The meeting included presentations and panel discussions on:
- Trends and environmental issues related to natural gas development
- Examples of environmental innovations being used in the Uintah Basin
- Examples of innovation & tools from outside the …

Seasonal Variability In Air-Sea Fluxes Of Co2 In A River-Influenced Coastal Margin, Steven E. Lohrenz, Wei-Jun Cai, Fengwei Cai, Xiaogang Chen, Merritt Tuel

Recent studies in the northern Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere have demonstrated that enhanced biological production in large river plumes may contribute to a net surface influx of atmospheric CO2. However, large rivers also deliver significant amounts of terrestrial carbon into continental margin waters; hence, the potential for large and variable signals in carbon flux exist in these regions. Here, we used a combination of satellite and ship-based observations to examine variability in surface pCO(2) and air-sea flux of carbon dioxide in relation to variations in river discharge and seasonal environmental conditions. Underway surface pCO(2) showed large seasonal differences based …
