A Note On $Ss$-Supplement Submodules, Emi̇ne Önal Kir
A Note On $Ss$-Supplement Submodules, Emi̇ne Önal Kir
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we describe $ss$-supplement submodules in terms of a special class of endomorphisms. Let $R$ be a ring with semisimple radical and $P$ be a projective $R-$module. We show that there is a bijection between ss-supplement submodules of $P$ and ss-supplement submodules of $End_{R}(P)$. Moreover, we define radical-s-projective modules as a generalization of projective modules. We prove that every $ss$-supplement submodule of a projective $R-$module is radical-s-projective over the ring $R$ with semisimple radical. We show that over $SSI$-ring $R$, every radical-s-projective $R-$module is projective. We provide that over a ring $R$ with semisimple radical, every $ss$-supplement submodule …

On Solvability Of Homogeneous Riemann Boundary Value Problems In Hardy-Orlicz Classes, Yusuf Zeren, Fi̇dan A. Ali̇zadeh, Feyza Eli̇f Dal
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This work deals with the Orlicz space and the Hardy-Orlicz classes generated by this space, which consist of analytic functions inside and outside the unit disk. The homogeneous Riemann boundary value problems with piecewise continuous coefficients are considered in these classes. New characteristic of Orlicz space is defined which depends on whether the power function belongs to this space or not. Relationship between this characteristic and Boyd indices of Orlicz space is established. The concept of canonical solution of homogeneous problem is defined, which depends on the argument of the coefficient. In terms of the above characteristic, a condition on …
Contiguity Distance Between Simplicial Maps, Ayşe Borat, Mehmetci̇k Pamuk, Tane Vergi̇li̇
Contiguity Distance Between Simplicial Maps, Ayşe Borat, Mehmetci̇k Pamuk, Tane Vergi̇li̇
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
For simplicial complexes and simplicial maps, the notion of being in the same contiguity class is defined as the discrete version of homotopy. In this paper, we study the contiguity distance, $SD$, between two simplicial maps adapted from the homotopic distance. In particular, we show that simplicial versions of $LS$-category and topological complexity are particular cases of this more general notion. Moreover, we present the behaviour of $SD$ under the barycentric subdivision, and its relation with strong collapsibility of a simplicial complex.
Boundedness Of Bergman Projections Acting On Weighted Mixed Norm Spaces, Ivana Savkovic
Boundedness Of Bergman Projections Acting On Weighted Mixed Norm Spaces, Ivana Savkovic
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We prove that Bergman projections on weighted mixed norm spaces on smoothly bounded domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$ are bounded for a certain range of parameters of such spaces and assuming certain conditions on weights. The proof relies on estimates of integral means of $M_p(P_\gamma f, r)$ in terms of integral means of $f$. This result complements earlier result on boundedness of $P_\gamma$ on a closely related space $L^{p,q}_\alpha(\Omega).$
A Calculus For Intuitionistic Fuzzy Values, Enes Yavuz
A Calculus For Intuitionistic Fuzzy Values, Enes Yavuz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We introduce $^\oplus$calculus and $^\otimes$calculus for intuitionistic fuzzy values and prove some basic theorems by using multiplicative calculus which has useful tools to represent the concepts of introduced calculi. Besides, we construct some isomorphic mappings to interpret the relationships between $^\oplus$calculus and $^\otimes$calculus. This paper reveals also new calculi for fuzzy sets in particular.

Lyapunov-Type Inequalities For $(\Mathtt{N},\Mathtt{P})$-Type Nonlinear Fractional Boundary Value Problems, Paul W. Eloe, Muralee Bala Krushna Boddu
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This paper establishes Lyapunov-type inequalities for a family of two-point $(\mathtt{n},\mathtt{p})$-type boundary value problems for Riemann-Liouville fractional differential equations. To demonstrate how the findings can be applied, we provide a few examples, one of which is a fractional differential equation with delay.
Generating Functions For Reciprocal Catalan-Type Sums: Approach To Linear Differentiation Equation And ($P$-Adic) Integral Equations, Damla Gün, Yilmaz Şi̇mşek
Generating Functions For Reciprocal Catalan-Type Sums: Approach To Linear Differentiation Equation And ($P$-Adic) Integral Equations, Damla Gün, Yilmaz Şi̇mşek
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This article is inspired by the reciprocal Catalan sums associated with problem 11765, proposed by David Beckwith and Sag Harbor. For this reason, partial derivative equations, the first-order linear differentiation equation and integral representations for series and generating functions for reciprocal Catalan-type sums containing the Catalan-type numbers are constructed. Some special values of these series and generating functions, which are given solutions of problem 11765, are found. Partial derivative equations of the generating function for the Catalan-type numbers are given. By using these equations, recurrence relations and derivative formulas involving these numbers are found. Finally, applying the $p$-adic Volkenborn integral …

On Generalized Darboux Frame Of A Spacelike Curve Lying On A Lightlike Surface In Minkowski Space $\Mathbb{E}^{3}_{1}$, Jelena Djordjevic, Emilija Nesovic, Ufuk Öztürk
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we introduce generalized Darboux frame of a spacelike curve $\alpha$ lying on a lightlike surface in Minkowski space $\mathbb{E}_{1}^{3}$. We prove that $\alpha$ has two such frames and obtain generalized Darboux frame's equations. We find the relations between the curvature functions $k_g$, $k_n$, $\tau_g$ of $\alpha$ with respect to its Darboux frame and the curvature functions $\tilde{k}_{g}$, $\tilde{k}_{n}$, $\tilde{\tau}_{g}$ with respect to generalized Darboux frames. We show that such frames exist along a spacelike straight line lying on a ruled surface which is not entirely lightlike, but contains some lightlike points. We define lightlike ruled surfaces on …
Longitudinal Sport Science Implementation In American Collegiate Men’S Basketball, Jason Stone
Longitudinal Sport Science Implementation In American Collegiate Men’S Basketball, Jason Stone
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports
The expanding opportunities to implement sport science frameworks in elite-level basketball environments coincide with the sport’s increasing global prominence. Concomitant to these opportunities is the continual growth of the sport technology market (e.g., wearables, force plates) and computational power (e.g., data management tools, coding capabilities), which yields solutions and challenges for both athletes and practitioners. Due to the rapid influx of new sport technologies in high performance environments, particularly American Collegiate Men’s Basketball, more formal and ecologically valid research on how to effectively utilize data derived from them, particularly over long periods of time (i.e., multiple seasons) is needed. To …

Novel Results On Trapezoid-Type Inequalities For Conformable Fractional Integrals, Fati̇h Hezenci̇, Hüseyi̇n Budak
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This paper establishes an identity for the case of differentiable $s-$convex functions with respect to the conformable fractional integrals. By using this identity, sundry trapezoid-type inequalities are proven by $s-$convex functions with the help of the conformable fractional integrals. Several important inequalities are acquired with taking advantage of the convexity, the Hölder inequality, and the power mean inequality. Moreover, an example using graph is given in order to show that our main results are correct. By using the special choices of the obtained results, we present several new results connected with trapezoid-type inequalities.

Numerical Solution For Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers Equation With Strang Time-Splitting Technique, Meli̇ke Karta
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In the present manuscript, the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers (BBMB) equation will be handled numerically by Strang time-splitting technique. While applying this technique, collocation method based on quintic B-spline basis functions is applied. In line with our purpose, after splitting the BBM-Burgers equation given with appropriate initial boundary conditions into two subequations containing the derivative in terms of time, the quintic B-spline based collocation finite element method (FEM) for spatial discretization and the suitable finite difference approaches for time discretization is applied to each subequation and hereby two different systems of algebraic equations are obtained. Four test problems are utilized to test the …

The Normalized Miller-Ross Function And Its Geometric Properties, Khaled Mehrez
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The main objective of this paper is to study certain geometric properties (like univalence, starlikeness, convexity, close-to-convexity) for the normalized Miller-Ross function. The various results, which we have established in the present investigation, are believed to be new, and their importance is illustrated by several interesting consequences and examples. Furthermore, some of the main results improve the corresponding results available in the literature [15].
Numerical Solutions Of Differential Equations Having Cubic Nonlinearity Using Boole Collocation Method, Kübra Erdem Bi̇çer, Hale Gül Dağ
Numerical Solutions Of Differential Equations Having Cubic Nonlinearity Using Boole Collocation Method, Kübra Erdem Bi̇çer, Hale Gül Dağ
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The aim of the study is to develop a numerical method for the solution of cubic nonlinear differential equations in which the numerical solution is based on Boole polynomials. That solution is in the form of the truncated series and gives approximate solution for nonlinear equations of cubic type. In this method, firstly, the matrix form of the serial solution is set and the nonlinear differential equation is converted into a matrix equation system. By adding the effect of both the conditions of the problem and the collocation points to this system of equations, we obtain the new system of …

Estimating Changing Marshland Habitat And Conservation Potential For Diamondback Terrapins (Malaclemys Terrapin) In New Jersey Under Climate Change, Jacqueline Ganter, Zachary Christman
Estimating Changing Marshland Habitat And Conservation Potential For Diamondback Terrapins (Malaclemys Terrapin) In New Jersey Under Climate Change, Jacqueline Ganter, Zachary Christman
School of Earth & Environment Departmental Research
The diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin), a brackish water turtle species native to the eastern United States, is under “special concern” in the state of New Jersey, due to decreasing habitat from development and changing climatic conditions. Diamondback terrapins reside in saline marshes and coastal wetlands and nest in sandy substrate, primarily beaches and dunes, in June and July. New Jersey is vulnerable to sea level rise, leaving diamondback terrapin habitats and nesting areas at risk of inundation under future climate scenarios, and, as the most densely populated state, subject to continual development pressures on potentially conservable land. Changing sea levels …

Inkjet Printing Of Sers-Based Inks For Covert Anti-Counterfeiting Labels, Erin E. Schnetzer
Inkjet Printing Of Sers-Based Inks For Covert Anti-Counterfeiting Labels, Erin E. Schnetzer
Dissertations and Theses
Millions of counterfeit products are produced every year, which negatively impacts the global economy, public health, and human safety. Current anti-counterfeiting methods include holograms, watermarks, microprinting, and QR codes. QR codes are a two-dimensional version of a barcode, thus they can store more information. Different types of inks such as thermochromic ink and invisible UV ink are widely used in making anti-counterfeiting labels. Most of these inks have specific changes in optical properties with external stimulations, and these changes are usually associated with broad bands in the visible region. Such broad bands result in a low information capacity that can …
Reconstructing The Ecological Relationships Of The Latest Cretaceous Antarctic Dinosaurs And How Functional Tooth Morphology Influenced Diet And Ecological Niche Among Basal Ornithopod Dinosaurs, Ian Broxson
EWU Masters Thesis Collection
Of the final three connected Gondwanan landmasses, the dinosaur fossil record of Antarctica in the Cretaceous is the least complete. Most dinosaur faunas in this time period (145 Ma to 66.0 Ma) are widely separated geographically and temporally from one another by million years. However, a group of non-avian dinosaurs from the James Ross Basin (JRB) of the Antarctic Peninsula, composed of two elasmarians, a parankylosaurian ankylosaur, a hadrosaur and a suspected megaraptor, all are represented by fragmentary remains have emerged from the same horizon of the Sandwich Bluff Member (SBM) of the López de Bertodano Formation and were thus, …

In this article, we address two key challenges in deep reinforcement learning (DRL) setting, sample inefficiency, and slow learning, with a dual-neural network (NN)-driven learning approach. In the proposed approach, we use two deep NNs with independent initialization to robustly approximate the action-value function in the presence of image inputs. In particular, we develop a temporal difference (TD) error-driven learning (EDL) approach, where we introduce a set of linear transformations of the TD error to directly update the parameters of each layer in the deep NN. We demonstrate theoretically that the cost minimized by the EDL regime is an approximation …

Impact Of Eastern Redcedar Encroachment On Water Resources In The Nebraska Sandhills, Yaser Kishawi, Aaron R. Mittelstet, Troy E. Gilmore, Dirac Twidwell, Tirthankar Roy, Nawaraj Shrestha
Department of Biological Systems Engineering: Papers and Publications
Worldwide, tree or shrub dominated woodlands have encroached into herbaceous dominated grasslands. While very few studies have evaluated the impact of Eastern Redcedar (redcedar) encroachment on the water budget, none have analyzed the impact on water quality. In this study, we evaluated the impact of redcedar encroachment on the water budget in the Nebraska Sand Hills and how the decreased streamflow would increase nitrate and atrazine concentrations in the Platte River. We calibrated a Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT model) for streamflow, recharge, and evapotranspiration. Using a moving window with a dilate morphological filter, encroachment scenarios of 11.9%, 16.1%, …
Unequal Trust: Bottled Water Consumption, Distrust In Tap Water, And Economic And Racial Inequality In The United States, Daniel Jaffee
Unequal Trust: Bottled Water Consumption, Distrust In Tap Water, And Economic And Racial Inequality In The United States, Daniel Jaffee
Sociology Faculty Publications and Presentations
Reviewing public health, nutrition, and social science literature, this article examines how bottled water consumption and spending in the United States differ along lines of race, ethnicity, and income, how these consumption patterns have changed in recent years, and how those shifts map onto perceptions of the safety and trustworthiness of tap water supplies, both before and since the Flint water disaster. It also addresses the differential impact of bottled water spending on household income. The findings challenge the truism that bottled water consumption is positively correlated with income, instead showing a bimodal racial and class consumption pattern that reflects …

The objective of this study is to predict EOR efficiencies through static wettability contact angle measurement by Machine Learning (ML) modeling. Unlike conventional methods of measuring static wettability contact angle, the unconventional digital static wettability contact angle is captured and measured, then (ML) modeled in order to forecast the recovery based on wettability distribution phenomenon. Due to success in big data collection from reservoir imaging samples, this study applies data science lifecycle logic and utilizes Machine Learning (ML) models that can predict the recovery through wettability contact angles and thus identify the treatment of oil recovery for a candidate reservoir. …

A Multistage Framework For Detection Of Very Small Objects, Duleep Rathgamage Don, Ramazan Aygun, Mahmut Karakaya
Published and Grey Literature from PhD Candidates
Small object detection is one of the most challenging problems in computer vision. Algorithms based on state-of-the-art object detection methods such as R-CNN, SSD, FPN, and YOLO fail to detect objects of very small sizes. In this study, we propose a novel method to detect very small objects, smaller than 8×8 pixels, that appear in a complex background. The proposed method is a multistage framework consisting of an unsupervised algorithm and three separately trained supervised algorithms. The unsupervised algorithm extracts ROIs from a high-resolution image. Then the ROIs are upsampled using SRGAN, and the enhanced ROIs are detected by our …

Exploring High Performance And Energy Efficient Graph Processing On Gpu, Robert P. Watling
Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports
Parallel graph processing is central to analytical computer science applications, and GPUs have proven to be an ideal platform for parallel graph processing. Existing GPU graph processing frameworks present performance improvements but often neglect two issues: the unpredictability of a given input graph and the energy consumption of the graph processing. Our prototype software, EEGraph (Energy Efficiency of Graph processing), is a flexible system consisting of several graph processing algorithms with configurable parameters for vertex update synchronization, vertex activation, and memory management along with a lightweight software-based GPU energy measurement scheme. We observe relationships between different configurations of our software, …
