The Image Of Limited Good In Ojibway Society, Jeffrey C. Moore
The Image Of Limited Good In Ojibway Society, Jeffrey C. Moore
Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science
Ojibway Indians of the north-central United States have had great difficulty in organizing effectively to work toward common economic, social, and political ends. This has been the case historically and remains true today. The basic reason for the inability to organize is on orientation to life which Foster has described in his theory of the Image of Limited Good, and which was observed on a Minnesota reservation.

A Study Of The Origins Of Behavior Problems, Kathryn Ann Shaddox
Honors Theses
In special studies this semester I have simply began the study of adult problems arising from childhood. To do this I read several books and an occasional periodical. The following paper tends to be an overview tying together three of these books. I only made a few references to the other three mentioned in the bibliography. The content for this paper in mainly a listing of the many aspects of personality development. The first section deals generally with the developmental tasks from infancy to adulthood. The second continues with the behavior problems of children who have failed to succeed in …

The Effect Of Verbal Reinforcement On The Self-References Of Psychiatric Patients Who Are Characterized By A High Number Of Negative Self-References, Earl William Rakestraw Ii
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The effect of positive verbal reinforcement on the verbal self-references of hospitalized psychiatric patients was studied. Eighteen patients, characterized by a high production rate of negative, verbal self-references, were matched on the following variables: age, length of hospitalization, medication, psychotherapy participation, intelligence quotient, sex, and adjustment score discrepancy obtained on a Q-sort test. After the subjects were given the pre-experimental Q-sorts and matched on the other variables, nine were randomly assigned to the experimental group and nine to the control group. All of the subjects were then administered six individual interviews in which they responded to 30 questions and statements …

A Comparison Of The Relative Reinforcement Value Of Response-Contingent Visual And Auditory Stimuli In A Multiple-Choice Learning Task With Institutionalized Retardates, William Robert Grimes
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if simple auditory and visual sensory stimuli were effective reinforcers with mentally retarded children and, if so whether one stimulus was superior to the other. In order to make this determination, a group of eighteen female patients between the ages of seventeen and twenty-seven, having IQ's ranging between 37 and 98, and classified as functioning in adaptive behavior level-III, were assigned by random sampling techniques to three equal groups to participate in a multiple-choice learning situation. The groups of subjects were exposed either to one of the two sensory stimuli (light flash …
The Effects Of Ego-Involvement And Fear Appeals Upon Task Performance, Stephen Steinmetz
The Effects Of Ego-Involvement And Fear Appeals Upon Task Performance, Stephen Steinmetz
Masters Theses
Researchers and scholars in the fear appeal area have been unable to determine what factor or factors make fear appeals effective. Two studies, Hewgill and Miller (1965) and Powell (1965), suggest that the personal involvement of the audience with who or what is threatened is the factor which causes fear appeals to be effective. If ego-involvement is the personal involvement factor indicated by these studies, then it would appear to be the key to fear appeal effectiveness. Therefore, the present investigation was designed to experimentally compare the effects of ego-involvement and fear appeals upon task performance.
