More recently personnel and industrial psychologists have become interested in other phases of research. The employee in industry has increasingly become the focal point in investigations and discussions and at present personnel interrelationships and the dynamics of the working situations are attracting the attention of a number of psychologists. This shift in interest has brought with it new emphasis in the literature.

The study to be presented …

The Relationship Between The Intelligence & Emotional Stability Of Seventh & Eighth Grade Pupils, Thomas Boone

A question nearly as old as the intelligence test itself led the author to make the investigation upon which this thesis is based. For years people in education and related fields have speculated as to whether the most intelligent children were the most stable emotionally or whether these brighter children tended more readily than the dull or average child to exhibit undesirable personality variations.

Practically everyone has, at some time in his life, used one or two isolated circumstances to prove the point that the more intelligent children were emotionally unstable or that the duller children were more unstable , …

This is consistent with the opinion of musicians and music critics who state that discriminating musical taste is a result of frequent listening to good music.

A Study Of The 1947 American Council On Education Psychological Examination And Its Usefulness In Predicting The Grades Of Utah State Agricultural College Freshmen, Russell B. Bateson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Prediction of future performance is attempted in almost every field of endeavor. The accuracy varies in different lines of study, and perhaps none is as subject to variability as those attempted with human beings as subjects.

When an attempt is made to ascertain in advance the performance of college students in their schoolwork, a multiplicity of complicating problems are introduced. Whereas intelligence can be fairly well isolated, it is difficult to control or even enumerated all the other factors that come into the problem of predicting grades from scores received on an intelligence examination. Among the factors that are difficult …

Influence On Handedness Of Local Application Of Acetylcholine With Dfp And Glycine To Cerebral Cortex Of The Rat, Joseph W. Rigney

Psychology ETDs

The behavior of an organism is the result of functioning of organic structures. Practice modifies behavior. It is not unreasonable to expect, then, that practice also modifies the structures responsible for the behavior.

In recent years, the metabolism of the nerve impulse has received much attention from neurophysiologists. This is particularly true of those workers who adhere to the theory of chemical meditation, which arose out of the discovery that an ester, acetylcholine, is liberated at the synapses and myoneural junctions within the parasympathetic system. As a result of this interest, today there is much evidence that acetylcholine is closely …
