Through Cedarville University’s Global Outreach department, 140 students traveled on 10 international and five domestic missions trips during the university’s recent spring break February 27- March 8.

Cedarville’s global outreach is designed to provide students with opportunities to serve domestically and internationally. The students are challenged to apply their book knowledge with practical and biblical ministry to make an impact in the lives of people they meet.

The students who capitalize on these opportunities, after raising their own financial support, are trained by campus staff for their outreach assignment. When serving others, the students are guided by a leader who …

New Chemistry Centers Is Net Gain For Cedarville University, Mark D. Weinstein

The $5 million expansion project at Cedarville University of its new chemistry building is on schedule to open, and for professors to move in, on May 1, 2015. The new facility sits along Bridge Street, along the southwest corner of campus. The university successfully raised all of the funds for the project. According to Dennis Flentge, chair of the department of science and mathematics and senior professor of chemistry, his department plans to begin moving equipment into the building on May 1. It is expected to be fully operational by June 2015.

When Cedarville University began developing its solar array field—the largest connected to any university in Ohio—back in April 2013, the primary purpose was to create new streams of energy on campus. But for Cedarville’s engineering students, the benefits since the installation have become more than just financial.

Tom Thompson, Ph.D., professor of mechanical engineering, started using the solar fields last year to help teach his Topics in Mechanical Engineering class. Cedarville University’s marketing department won three awards from Higher Education Marketing Report’s annual educational advertising awards. The recognition will be announced in the March issue.

The Cedarville group, led by Chad Jackson, director of marketing and creative director, earned a gold award for its 2014 homecoming “We Are Jackets” logo and a pair of silver awards — one for a social media hashtag signage campaign and another for the fall 2014 Cedarville Fund newsletter.

“Mini-Arnold” Competition Finds University’S Strongest Male, Female, Mark D. Weinstein

Cedarville University will host the ninth annual “Mini-Arnold Weightlifting” competition on Saturday, March 28, in the university’s fitness center. The event, sponsored by the health and fitness student organization, is open to Cedarville students and begins at 2 p.m. The entry fee is $10.

Cedarville University’s online Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) is one of the highest-ranked programs in the nation, according to SmartChoice’s Super Scholar rankings. Cedarville’s program is ranked number 20 of the top “50 Best Online Masters in Nursing Programs of 2015.”

Data for the ranking was obtained from websites such as the National Center for Education Statistics. Online nursing schools considered for this ranking had to be accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) to ensure accuracy. Planning Four-Year Degree Program Now Available For Freshmen, Mark D. Weinstein

Student Planning, a software program designed to aid students in class registration and class scheduling, is now available to Cedarville University students.

Cedarville University’s Information Technology and Office of the Registrar collaborated to create this application, which merges technology and course scheduling and helps students plan their courses over their four-year college careers. The program will help students stay on course with their academic choices and may improve graduation rates since students will know when a course will be offered during their four-year education.
