Hsm: A Hierarchical Spiral Model For Knowledge Management, Zhaohao Sun, G. Hao Feb 2006

Hsm: A Hierarchical Spiral Model For Knowledge Management, Zhaohao Sun, G. Hao

Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)

Knowledge is the most important asset for organisations today. Knowledge management (KM) has become one of the most moving research and development fields in information systems (IS), business management and commerce development. There are many researches in the technical and strategic aspect of KM. However, how to model KM is still a big issue. This paper will fill this gap by providing a hierarchical spiral model (HSM) for KM. The proposed model will facilitate the research and development of KM and IS.

Infrastructure And Fdi Inflows Into Mexico: A Panel Data Approach, Andre V. Mollick, Rene Ramos-Duran, Esteban Silva-Ochoa Feb 2006

Infrastructure And Fdi Inflows Into Mexico: A Panel Data Approach, Andre V. Mollick, Rene Ramos-Duran, Esteban Silva-Ochoa

Economics and Finance Faculty Publications and Presentations

In December 1993, restrictions to foreign ownership across major Mexican economic sectors were abolished. This paper studies output, industrialization intensity, \"international infrastructure\", and government expenditures on infrastructure as determinants of FDI inflows into Mexican states over 1994-2001. We conduct a \"general to specific\" estimation strategy across Mexican states. Telephone lines appear to be very important to FDI as their coefficients are around 2.0 in Random Effects Models. Industrialization is also important, with coefficients varying from 0.62 to 0.67. Allowing for endogeneity between FDI and real output, dynamic GMM panels confirm the robust effects of telephone lines on FDI. International infrastructure …

Regulating Contract Formation: Precontractual Reliance, Sunk Costs, And Market Structure, Ofer Grosskopf, Barak Medina Feb 2006

Regulating Contract Formation: Precontractual Reliance, Sunk Costs, And Market Structure, Ofer Grosskopf, Barak Medina

ExpressO

This Article challenges the plausibility of the prospect of underinvestment in precontractual reliance (PCR). We argue that a negotiating party is motivated to invest in PCR not only through her expectation to extract the benefits that the investment yields (Added-Value Motivation), but also through the effect of the investment on her position vis-à-vis her competitors (Competition-Based Motivation). We demonstrate that under plausible assumptions, when a negotiating party operates in a relatively competitive market, the Competition-Based Motivation is frequently sufficient to induce optimal PCR, even without appropriate contractual provisions or legal intervention.

We suggest several normative implications. First, legal intervention that …

Annual Report Of Nebraska's Reading First, Guy Trainin

Digital Commons / Institutional Repository Information

Thi report summarizes the results of the first year of the Reading First Initiative in Nebraska. Results show that teachers and schools have made a real effort to change. Student performance in the earlier grades has shown great promise for the following years, however, growth in fluency and comprehension in grades 2 and 3 were not as impressive and require additional attention. Overall, students make at least a year’s progress in most schools and most demographic groups. Schools can make much better use of the data they were collecting and need further direction in this area The assessment results were …

Task One: Moving Dublin Core To Marc, Margaret Mering, Charity K. Martin, Judith Wolfe

UNL Libraries: White Papers

Problem: Currently we catalog architecture slides in both MARC and ContentDM (Dublin Core)

Questions: How can we catalog items in ContentDM and then load the data into IRIS in a MARC format with appropriate URL to access the actual images?
Also, how can we move catalog records and URLS from IRIS to ContentDM without a great deal of clean up?

Charge: Design and test a process for moving data from ContentDM to IRIS and from IRIS to ContentDM.

Kleiner provides a thorough examination of the costs and benefits of occupational licensing (OL). He offers an explanation for the growth of OL, defines the winners and losers in terms of earnings and the quality of services provided by licensees, compares the differing labor market and price impacts of OL in the United States and Europe, provides evidence on the overall net impacts of OL for society, and offers policy alternatives to OL.

Exploring The Impact Of Rural And Urban Settings On Therapist Self-Disclosure, Katie Pierson Fruhauff Feb 2006

Exploring The Impact Of Rural And Urban Settings On Therapist Self-Disclosure, Katie Pierson Fruhauff

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

There has been a significant amount of research that addresses the topic of therapist self-disclosure. Issues such as what to disclose, when to disclose, the ethics of therapist disclosure, and the benefits and harm of therapist self-disclosure have been debated over the years. How self-disclosure varies among therapists has also been a focus of research. Unlike the area of self-disclosure, research on rural practice is a new and expanding field of research and there is great need for more research in this area. The hypothesis of this study proposes that therapist self-disclosure varies by setting; that rural therapists are more …

Differential Item Functioning In Asian-Americans On The Stanford-Binet Standardization Fifth Edition Verbal Subtests, Sheri L. Cardoza Feb 2006

Differential Item Functioning In Asian-Americans On The Stanford-Binet Standardization Fifth Edition Verbal Subtests, Sheri L. Cardoza

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

This research examined the Standardization Edition of the Stanford-Binet, Fifth Edition (SB5), in order to assess the cultural validity of items using an index of differential item functioning (DIF) among Asian American and White/Caucasian American children. Archival data, obtained from the SB5 publisher, was used to determine DIF of items for the 101 Asian American and 200 White/Caucasian American children, ages 4-18. Potential bias was determined through the use of partial correlation. A significant correlation between item and an ethnicity code (with overall ability partialed out) indicated that, in general, one group performed better on a particular item than the …

The Anchor, Volume 119.14: February 8, 2006, Hope College

The Anchor: 2006

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.
