Some Contributions To The Understanding Of The Stability Of Attitudes, Betty Bennett Jul 1941

Some Contributions To The Understanding Of The Stability Of Attitudes, Betty Bennett

Master's Theses

The field of attitude research may be placed in three categories: 1. Determination of the consensus of public opinion regarding social issues. 2. Attitude measurement techniques. 3. Investigation of the intrinsic psychological nature of human attitudes. This study has to do with the third category. Unless this point is clearly borne in mind, the purpose of the investigation which is reported herein may be obscure. Here we are not concerned with the content of the attitude, but with the mechanism of the attitude. We are studying the attitude to determine its inner characteristic s, its make-up, rather than to show …

The Trend Of Farm Population And Land Ownership In Smith County, Kansas, From 1900 And 1940, Charles Casper Easterly

Master's Theses

All through their history the American people have lived and developed in the presence of abundant land. If a farm failed to produce profitably the occupants would merely move to the frontier and take up new land. In the few years prior to nineteen hundred the frontier, as a large determining factor in the life of our people, ceased to exist. Many farm problems arose. The spread of the machine process has raised many problems which we have to puzzle over. Power farm machinery has made it possible for one man to do the work which formerly required the services …

A Factor Analysis Of Verbal Ability, Floyd Edward Reynolds May 1941

A Factor Analysis Of Verbal Ability, Floyd Edward Reynolds

Master's Theses

For many years the practical value of tests of intelligence, aptitude and other qualities has been demonstrated. As the “testing movement” has grown, a multitude of tests has been devised and is now available for testing of human abilities. Two of the most important attempts to understand intellectual abilities are found in the theories and methods of Spearman and Thurstone. There is a possibility that the statistical studies of these theorists have overlooked a valuable source of information, that is existing experimental information about different processes included in mental ability. It is this possibility that prompted this study.

A Christian Critique Of Totalitarianism, Clyde Norwood Parker Jan 1940

A Christian Critique Of Totalitarianism, Clyde Norwood Parker

Master's Theses

In presenting a subject of this kind it is evident that some limitations must be set. A full treatment of Totalitarianism would necessitate not only an examination of its various aspects as exemplified by the several nations of the world under Dictator rule today, but also some consideration of strong totalitarian tendencies in many of the so-called democracies of the world.

Likewise, Christianity is an all-inclusive term under which are many religious denominations with their individual organization and peculiar interpretation of the Christian Gospel. This makes it necessary to present A Christian Critique rather than ~Christian Critique.

Therefore, it shall …
