Development Of Community‐Based Workshops For Mexican‐Origin Rural, Low‐Income Study Participants, Rosa D. Manzo, Yvette G. Flores, Adela De La Torre

Journal of Community Engagement and Higher Education

This paper documents the process of developing community-based psychoeducational workshops to engage and retain study participants within a comparison research site. The development and adaptation of the workshops followed methods of cultural adaptation and ecological validity (Domenech-Rodriguez & Wieling, 2004; Bernal, Bonilla, & Bellido, 1995). Our work supports the idea that culturally responsive approaches can engage community members and increase the acceptability of researchers in low-income Mexican-origin communities.

Winter Wheat Biomass And Yield Estimation Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-Based And Venµs Satellite Imagery With Machine Learning Techniques, Marco S. Chiu Mr.

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Monitoring crop productivity is crucial in precision agriculture, often using biomass and yield as metrics to measure crop health and growth status. This thesis aims to predict dry above-ground biomass using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) multispectral imagery, derived vegetation indices (VI), plant height, leaf area index (LAI), and plant nutrient content ratios. Additionally, the thesis tests the viability of VENμS satellite data as an alternative to other popular multispectral satellite data for predicting winter wheat yield. Conducted in two winter wheat fields in southwestern Ontario, Canada, the study employed Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Regression (SVR) machine learning models …

Why I Think Linkedin Is Age Neutral And How It Bridges Generational Gaps, Essraa Nawar Aug 2024

Why I Think Linkedin Is Age Neutral And How It Bridges Generational Gaps, Essraa Nawar

Library Articles and Research

"Earlier this morning, during a lively conversation with my Information Gone Wild podcast co-hosts— Maurice Coleman , Paul Signorelli , our marketing consultant, Abbie Fentress Swanson —we brainstormed strategies to better market our newly launched series. As we debated which platforms could effectively reach our diverse audience, I suggested focusing more on LinkedIn. My reasoning? LinkedIn is one of the few digital spaces that feels genuinely 'age-neutral.' Unlike platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok, where generational lines are sharply drawn, LinkedIn is where people of all ages—from my 19- and 21-year-old sons who (shockingly) like my posts there, to my …

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) (2021), 26% of women around the world have experienced violence (physical and/or sexual) from a current or former intimate partner at least once in their lifetime.

Given the pervasiveness of IPV and its serious …

But then a deeper question emerged—what if, instead of solely focusing on challenging stereotypes, we could also highlight the profound privileges inherent in being rooted in the MENA region? This reflection led me to coin a brand new term: Middle Eastern Privilege. This concept seeks to redefine what it means to come from the Middle East and North Africa by emphasizing the richness of cultural, linguistic, religious, and geopolitical heritage alongside an openness to diverse perspectives. It challenges the dominance of Western privilege in global discourse and celebrates the advantages that this community brings to the table."

Additionally, they performed a novel own voice recognition task, assessing their ability to recognise a recording of their voice, differentiating it from digitally altered versions of the …
