Exploring The Role Of Attachment Trauma In The Complex Ptsd Victim’S Self-Concept, Sadia Upright

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Complex posttraumatic stress disorder is a very serious mental health condition with long-term side effects that impact a victim’s quality of life. Many studies have been conducted that explore various aspects of complex posttraumatic stress disorder. However, there is a gap in research exploring the role of attachment trauma in the development of self-concept for complex posttraumatic stress disorder victims. This gap is relevant because treatment of this population has been decisively limited and attachment trauma has been found to be a correlate among many psychiatric groups. By identifying how attachment trauma develops self-concept, researchers and clinicians can be better …

Risk Or Contra-Political Correctness With Distrust Towards Muslims In The U.S. Military, Benedict Uzoma Iheanacho

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Muslims are viewed by many in the United States with great anxiety and distrust. This mistrust encompasses Muslims in the U.S. military, especially since 9/11. The trust deficit has implications to U.S. security and military readiness in a global threat environment. Whereas the notion of Islamophobia has generated significant literature in modern public policy, there is a dearth of research on public perception towards Muslims serving in the U.S. military. The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences and perspectives of non-Muslim U.S. military personnel on the mistrust towards Muslim military personnel in the post-9/11 era. Theories of …

The Perceived Influence Of Value-Added Metrics On Urban Middle School Teachers’ Job Satisfaction And Motivation, Angela Jones

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Value-added metrics or models (VAMs) are an important component of the teacher evaluation process that evaluators use to determine the value teachers add to their students’ academic achievement. VAMs are used to arrive at a score that is derived from the number of the teachers’ students who pass and/or fail a standardized assessment. While prior research has focused on VAMs with respect to impact on student success and performance, little is known about how teachers experience the implementation of these metrics and how those experiences may influence teachers’ job satisfaction and motivation. The purpose of this interpretive qualitative study was …
