An individual’s control over their reproductive future is essential. The creators of the LARC pass program were motivated to create an anti-poverty and anti-racist approach to providing the best methods of contraception after witnessing the many systemic inequities exposed by the tumult of 2020. Research has shown that many marginalized Americans, including teens and young adults, people of color, those living in poverty and those experiencing homelessness utilize government subsidized clinics to attempt to meet their health and reproductive needs. This proposed intervention explains the need for both data collection on children with developmental disabilities in child welfare and how it will benefit future work, as well as a proposal of an evidence-based intervention using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with developmental disabilities. Children learn many skills during their time in elementary school. One important area that is not sufficiently addressed in curricula is student mental health. Allowing students to address their mental health needs in the classroom improves their overall outcomes. This intervention is a short weekly group completed within the classroom by the classroom teacher and the school’s counselor. Implementing this low-cost, short mental health group in classrooms can help to address this gap in student learning. Surrogacy continues to be practiced to address infertility in the Philippines; however, discussions on the method are sparse, given its limited accessibility and morally questionable procedures that may concern potential parents in a developing country. Using discourse analysis, the researchers interviewed ten (10) Filipino Roman Catholics who were struggling with infertility, to uncover how they construct the idea of surrogacy. The study shows the discourses on surrogacy are often approached in a detached manner, where potential parents describe the method as a last choice or one that is never considered. The Safety Harbor culture that resided in West-Central Florida during the Mississippian period (~1000-1500 CE) was distant from the Mississippian heartland but built similar platform mound complexes and exhibited social hierarchies despite practicing an estuarine lifestyle that likely did not rely on extensive agriculture. To determine whether this coastal culture exhibited similar spatial patterns of platform mound centers to traditional inland cultures, GIS spatial analyses including distance matrices, density analyses, and least cost analyses (LCA) were performed within the Safety Harbor geographical nexus of Tampa Bay. The results were able to detect temporal changes in settlement patterns and estimate the …

Sync Variations is a collaboration between the composer and sound artist Elad Shniderman, the physicist Moti Fridman, and his colleagues Nir Davidson and Shir Shahal. An article on the scientific research aspect of this project was published in Nature Communications². This article focuses on the musical performance and score.

The project is the product of a unique interaction between musicians through a custom-programmed network system. This system simulates the network environment of the internet in many ways. However, the piece has not yet been performed over the internet, which naturally will be the next step in this project. …

On Composing 5,000 Miles, Joe Sferra

This article is my account of composing my first piece for telematic performance, a quartet called 5,000 Miles. The piece was commissioned by the ACCAD Sonic Arts Ensemble, directed by Marc Ainger, Ann Stimson, and Federico Cámara Halac. I performed the piece with the ensemble on two performances in November 2020: a performance for the NowNetArts Conference, and a second performance titled “Into the Multiverse” for the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University. I outline how I approached writing a specifically telematic piece, then present an analysis.

We present a report of the experience of our remote musical collaboration during the Covid-19 pandemic regarding live electronic, audiovisual compositions, and telematic performance in the context of the project Sound Notebooks. We discuss the problems found and the solutions adopted in the performances, as well as the hypotheses of musical research raised by the remote environment. We argue that the variety of expressive modes, sonic modalities, and video possibilities in the Sound Notebooks repertoire we presented contributes to the construction of an aesthetics for remote performance. Theories proposed to explain social play have centered on its function in establishing social relationships critical for adulthood, its function in developing motor skills needed to survive, and promoting cognitive development and social learning. In this study, we compared variations in social play among infant and juvenile male and female Macaca thibetana. Given that this species is characterized by female philopatry and male dispersal, we hypothesized that immature females use social play as a mechanism to develop bonds that persist through adulthood whereas immature males use play to develop social skills needed to successfully enter new groups. The FourthAmendment protects the right of the people—us—against unreasonable searches, seizures, and warrantless conduct by government actors—police officers. The Supreme Court has added safeguards to this amendment, with the seminal cases of U.S. v. Weeks and Mapp v. Ohio. The Court created the exclusionary rule, which excludes evidence obtained in violation of the Fourth Amendment from criminal trials. Initially designed as a multifaceted legal mechanism to uphold judicial integrity, deter police misconduct, and serve as a remedy for those who are victims of constitutional violations. Mediating Asian-Ness: How And Why Does Asian Identity Salience Vary By Biracial Status?, Kaitlan Wong

The following study explores how and why Asian identity salience may vary between biracial and monoracial Asians. This study further aims to find potential mediators—including daily Asian contact, linked fate, group solidarity, and microaggressions—that might explain any group differences in Asian identity salience. I used the 2016 Post-Election National Asian American Survey to explore these research aims. Contrary to expectations, I found that biracial Asians have higher Asian identity salience than monoracial Asians. As expected, linked fate and microaggressions were positively associated with Asian identity salience. Surprisingly, daily Asian contact was negatively associated and group solidarity was not significantly associated …

In so doing, the article integrates four positions on discourse and media as terrible facets of globalization in the context of critical discourse analysis (CDA). The dynamic nonlinearity approach, coupled with the exchange rate data series, makes its future predictions difficult. Sophisticated methods are highly desired for effective prediction of such data. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have shown their ability to model and predict such data. This article presents a multi-verse optimizer (MVO) based multiplicative functional link neural network (MV-MFLN) model to forecast the exchange rate data.
