Abstract

The study was conducted in order to measure the information literacy skills of graduate students of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). To meet the purpose, a study was conducted in multiple phases. In the first phase, a comprehensive literature review was completed. In the second phase, a survey research design was solicited to collect the required data using a self-administered structured questionnaire. A convenient sampling technique was used to collect the required data from the population. Beginning middle school is a difficult transition for many young adolescents. Academic coping skills and the ability to exhibit motivational resilience in the face of potential academic adversity can contribute to the success with which students navigate this transition. Students' peer group affiliations are known to have the ability to contribute positively to students' academic engagement, motivation, and achievement at this time. Background: Studies that identify children after acute trauma and prospectively track risk/protective factors and trauma responses over time are resource-intensive; small sample sizes often limit power and generalizability. The Prospective studies of Acute Child Trauma and Recovery (PACT/R) Data Archive was created to facilitate more robust integrative cross-study data analyses.

Nanjing, the capital of China's Jiangsu Province, has grown rapidly during the post-reform era and the pace of change placed tremendous pressure on the city's arable land resources. This case study of land use/land cover change (LUC) in Nanjing's Jiangning district assesses changes in agricultural land, production, and labor within the ten 2016-era jiedao (sub-district political units) of Jiangning from 2000 to 2015. This case study provides an opportunity to assess an important component of the Ginsburg-McGee desakota hypothesis that predicts that Asian extended metropolis regions, unlike similar large cities in Western nations, will consistently maintain agricultural land and labor …

Funding was requested to identify research and evaluation competencies and related training needs among professionals in the nonprofit sector. The rationale for this study was to establish a research agenda in Nonprofit Management that draws on prior work in the area of evaluation competencies. To that end, the following research activities were implemented: (1) identify a database of Certified Nonprofit Professionals through coordination with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and the Association of Certified Nonprofit Professionals; (2) implement a web-based questionnaire; (3) analyze questionnaire data; (4) present findings at pertinent conferences; and (5) use findings to shape future curricula.

Research integrating the minority stress model and vocational behavior has used broad samples of sexual minority persons. Specific work contexts, particularly traditionally masculine work contexts, may be relevant areas to the integration of minority stress theory and vocational well-being. This study examined the relationship between workplace heterosexism and job satisfaction, as moderated by identity management and person-organization fit, among a sample of 114 sexual minority men, employed in agriculture, recruited from an online social network group. Contrary to prior research, integrating identity management did not moderate the relationship between workplace heterosexism and job satisfaction. Aquatically breeding harbour seal (Phoca vitulina) males use underwater vocalizations during the breeding season to establish underwater territories, defend territories against intruder males, and possibly to attract females. Vessel noise overlaps in frequency with these vocalizations and could negatively impact breeding success by limiting communication space. In this study, we investigated whether harbour seals employed anti-masking strategies to maintain communication in the presence of vessel noise in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska. Harbour seals in this location did not sufficiently adjust source levels or acoustic parameters of vocalizations to compensate for acoustic masking. Instead, for every 1 dB …

The purpose of this study is to explore how citizens use news discussion spaces to share knowledge and provide alternative perspectives to be considered in understanding the events and issues of the day. When citizens gather in both the “official” and “unofficial” spaces of news to engage in commentary and discussion, added knowledge and perspectives are gained, sometimes in ways that can provide a counter to the framing of the story. In case of earthquakes, while remote sensing has been applied for response and damage assessment, its application has not been investigated thoroughly for monitoring the recovery dynamics in spatially and temporally explicit dimensions.
