Generalizing Random Fibonacci Sequences, Prashant Sansgiry, Ogul Duncan, David Duncan, Alexander Foster
Generalizing Random Fibonacci Sequences, Prashant Sansgiry, Ogul Duncan, David Duncan, Alexander Foster
Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science
We consider generalized Fibonacci sequences with recurrence
relation xn+p+1 = xn+p + xn, which have growth rates of the form
limn→∞ |xn|1/n that behave similarly to the golden ratio, (1 + √5)/2.
Following Makover and McGowan’s analysis of the random Fibonacci se-
quence, we find bounds for the value of E(|xn|)1/n for random sequences
given by xn+p+1 = ±xn+p + xn. Finally, we further generalize these ran-
dom sequences using two parameters, p and q, and we experimentally
observe how limn→∞ |xn|1/n contains surprising information about the
divisors of q + 1

An Analysis Of The Sequence Xn+2 = I M Xn+1 + Xn, David Duncan, Prashant Sansgiry, Ogul Arslan, Jensen Meade
Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science
We analyze the sequence Xn+2 = imXn+1 + Xn, with X1 = X2 = 1 + i, where i is the imaginary number and m is a real number. Plotting the sequence in the complex plane for different values of m, we see interesting figures from the conic sections. For values of m in the interval (−2, 2) we show that the figures generated are ellipses. We also provide analysis which prove that for certain values of m, the sequence generated is periodic with even period.

Sctiger: A Deep-Learning Method For Inferring Gene Regulatory Networks From Case Versus Control Scrna-Seq Datasets., Madison Dautle, Shaoqiang Zhang, Yong Chen
College of Science & Mathematics Departmental Research
Inferring gene regulatory networks (GRNs) from single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data is an important computational question to find regulatory mechanisms involved in fundamental cellular processes. Although many computational methods have been designed to predict GRNs from scRNA-seq data, they usually have high false positive rates and none infer GRNs by directly using the paired datasets of case-versus-control experiments. Here we present a novel deep-learning-based method, named scTIGER, for GRN detection by using the co-differential relationships of gene expression profiles in paired scRNA-seq datasets. scTIGER employs cell-type-based pseudotiming, an attention-based convolutional neural network method and permutation-based significance testing for inferring GRNs among …

Agricultural irrigation practices have changed through time as technology has enabled more efficient conveyance and application. In some agricultural regions, irrigation can contribute to incidental aquifer recharge important for groundwater return flows to streams. The Henrys Fork Snake River, Idaho (United States) overlies a portion of the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer, where irrigated agriculture has occurred for over a century. Using irrigator interviews, aerial and satellite imagery, and statistical streamflow analysis, we document the impact of farm-scale decisions on basin-scale hydrology. Motivated to improve economic efficiency, irrigators began converting from surface to center-pivot sprinkler irrigation in the 1950s, with rapid …

Effect Of Amine Additives On Thermal Runaway Inhibition Of Sic||Ncm811 Batteries, Bo-Wen Hou, Long He, Xu-Ning Feng, Wei-Feng Zhang, Li Wang, Xiang-Ming He
Journal of Electrochemistry
The high energy density of NCM batteries with high nickel content is a key advantage in replacing fossil fuels and promoting clean energy development, at the same time, is also a fundamental cause of serious safety hazards in batteries. Primary and secondary amines can lead to ring-opening polymerization of common ethylene carbonate electrolytes, resulting in an isolation layer between the cathode and the anode, and improving the thermal safety of the battery. In this work, the safety of batteries is considered both at the material level and at the cell level, based on the chemical reactions between amines and the …

Effects Of Traps On Photo-Induced Interfacial Charge Transfer Of Ag-Tio2: Photoelectrochemical, Electrochemical And Spectroscopic Characterizations, Zhi-Hao Liang, Jia-Zheng Wang, Dan Wang, Jian-Zhang Zhou, De-Yin Wu
Journal of Electrochemistry
In the field of metal-semiconductor composites based plasmon-mediated chemical reactions, a clear and in-depth understanding of charge transfer and recombination mechanisms is crucial for improving plasmonic photocatalytic efficiency. However, the plasmonic photocatalytic reactions at the solid-liquid interface of the electrochemical systems involve complex processes with multiple elementary steps, multiple time scales, and multiple controlling factors. Herein, the combination of photoelectrochemical and electrochemical as well as spectroscopic characterizations has been successfully used to study the effects of traps on the photo-induced interfacial charge transfer of silver-titanium dioxide (Ag-TiO2). The results show that the increase of surface hydroxyl groups may …

Synthesis And Evaluation Of Organic Additives For Copper Electroplating Of Interconnects, Yue-Hui Zhai, Yi-Xiao Peng, Yan Hong, Yuan-Ming Chen, Guo-Yun Zhou, Wei He, Peng-Ju Wang, Xian-Ming Chen, Chong Wang
Journal of Electrochemistry
Copper interconnects are essential to the functionality, performance, power efficiency, reliability, and fabrication yield of electronic devices. They are widely found in chips, packaging substrates and printed circuit boards, and are often produced by copper electroplating in an acidic aqueous solution. Organic additives play a decisive role in regulating copper deposition to fill microgrooves, and micro-vias to form fine lines and interlayer interconnects. Generally, an additive package consists of three components (brightener, suppressor, and leveler), which have a synergistic effect of super-filling on electroplating copper when the concentration ratio is appropriate. Many works of literature have discussed the mechanism of …

Pulse Electroplating Of Nanotwinned Copper Using Mps-Peg Two-Additive System For Damascene Via Filling Process, Yu-Xi Wang, Li-Yin Gao, Yong-Qiang Wan, Zhe Li, Zhi-Quan Liu
Journal of Electrochemistry
High density nanotwinned copper films were pulse electroplated using an optimized electrolyte. In order to find out the influencing factors on the formation of nanotwins, series contents of MPS were added to the electrolyte during the pulse electroplating process. It was found that the copper films electroplated without MPS had large grains but a few nanotwins. And the grain size was about 0.9 μm on average, and the texture components of (110) and (111) crystal orientations were calculated as 49% and 27.8%, respectively. Differently, when 10 ppm MPS was added, the microstructure was changed to columnar grain with high density …

Closure Trajectory Model Of Pressure-Preserved Controller For Coring In Coal Seam Surface Well, Guo Da, Zhang Yiwei, Wang Dingming, Fang Xin, Yang Bengao, Guo Lihua, Hou Lele, Zhao Xiang
Coal Geology & Exploration
The traditional method of coal exploration is to obtain coal samples using an open coring tool and estimate the gas loss through theoretical calculations. However, the measured gas content of these coal samples is generally low, significantly impeding the development and utilization of coalbed methane and compromising the safety of coal mining operations. To meet the demands of deep coal exploration, an innovative pressure-preserved coring tool was specifically designed for the coal seam surface wells. This tool has a total length of 6.7 m and can extract a 3 m long pressure-preserved coal core sample at a single time. In …

A major obstacle in cultivating a robust Heliophysics (and broader scientific) community is the lack of diversity throughout science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. For many years, this has been understood as a “leaky pipeline” analogy, in which predominately minority students initially interested in STEM gradually fall (or are pushed) out of the field on their way to a scientific research position. However, this ignores critical structural and policy issues which drive even later career Ph.D.s out of a career in Heliophysics. We identify here several systemic problems that inhibit many from participating fully in the Heliophysics community, including …

Short-Term Vehicle Speed Prediction With Spatiotemporal Convolution Fused With Variational Modal Decomposition, Kai Zhang, Haipeng Lu, Ying Han, Lingyun Zhang, Yujie Ding
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Accurate short-term vehicle speed prediction helps to resolve city traffic congestion problems. Focusing on the defect that CNN cannot process non-Euclidean geometric data, GCN and BiLSTM are combined to fully process the spatiotemporal characteristics of road network information, in which the advantages of GCN integrating global features and the ability of BiLSTM to extract temporal features are considered. In order to reduce the interference of noise to the data, variational modal decomposition (VMD) is introduced and short-term vehicle speed prediction model based on VMD-GCN-BiLSTM (VGBLSTM) is proposed . Simulation results show that the prediction accuracy of VGBLSTM model is …

Hydrodynamic Voltammetry Of Fe2+/3+ In Aqueous Deep Eutectic Solvents Towards Redox Flow Batteries, Desiree Mae Prado, Xiaochen Shen, Robert Savinell, Clemens Burda
Faculty Scholarship
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have recently attracted much attention as potential green electrolyte solvents for redox flow batteries. DESs are considered not only as environmentally sustainable but also economically attractive electrolytes because they can be resourced from biological feedstock (alcohols, urea, choline) and are earth-abundant and of low toxicity. Despite these advantages, DESs still have limitations in important aspects such as reactant and ion transport, which is inhibited due to hydrogen-bonding-induced viscosity. Thus, improving the transport properties of redox species in DESs is essential. In addition, we explore the quantitative addition of water to ethaline (a 1:2 choline chloride: ethylene …

A Framework On Equipment Digital Twin Credibility Assessment, Han Lu, Lin Zhang, Kunyu Wang, Zejun Huang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: A key bottleneck in the large-scale application of equipment digital twin is the lack of systematic and effective credibility assessment methods. This paper analyzes the dynamic evolution, virtual-real interactivity and other key features of the equipment digital twin. A credibility assessment framework for the equipment digital twin is proposed, including the credibility connotation of the digital twin, a multi-dimensional and multi-level credibility assessment index system and a credibility assessment methodology. The whole assessment process is illustrated with the robotic arm digital twin as an example, which can provide directional guidance for the assessment and construction of the digital twin.
