Parametric-Based Mobility For Providing Opportunistic Geocasting In Spatially Separated Wireless Sensor Networks, Selvi Ravindran, Narayanasamy Palanisamy, Vetriselvi Vetrian

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Uneven deployment and environment constraint leads to the formation of a spatially separated wireless sensor network (SS-WSN). Most of the traditional WSN architectures consist of static nodes that are densely deployed over a sensing area and are fully connected. SS-WSN is a group of disjoint subnetworks where connectivity is generally maintained by energy rich mobile nodes (ERMN), which roam about from one subnetwork to another. We propose an algorithm whereby the mobility of ERMN helps in distributing the geo message opportunistically in the region of interest. The routing consists of two phases: (1) transmission of the geo message from the …

A Designed Converter For Minimizing Srm Torque Ripple With Controlled Boost Capacitor Automatically, Loghman Samani, Mahdi Abdolhamidi, Amir Rashidi, Sayed Morteza Saghaiannezhad

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) is one way of controlling torque in switched reluctance motors. Despite the presence of DITC control, torque ripple at nominal or higher speeds is considerable due to the back emf increasing. To overcome this drawback, many converters have been proposed. In most convertors proposed for fast excitation in DITC, controlling of boost capacity is an important problem. This paper presents a DITC for a switched reluctance motor using a proposed converter to reduce the torque ripple with controlled boost capacitor automatically. The proposed converter reduces the torque ripple at rated or higher speeds and no …

Novel Dynamic Partial Reconfiguration Implementations Of The Support Vector Machine Classifier On Fpga, Hanaa Hussain, Khaled Benkrid, Hüseyi̇n Şeker

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The support vector machine (SVM) is one of the highly powerful classifiers that have been shown to be capable of dealing with high-dimensional data. However, its complexity increases requirements of computational power. Recent technologies including the postgenome data of high-dimensional nature add further complexity to the construction of SVM classifiers. In order to overcome this problem, hardware implementations of the SVM classifier have been proposed to benefit from parallelism to accelerate the SVM. On the other hand, those implementations offer limited flexibility in terms of changing parameters and require the reconfiguration of the whole device. The latter interrupts the operation …

An Improved Digital Image Watermarking Scheme Using The Discrete Fourier Transform And Singular Value Decomposition, Justin Varghese, Saudia Subash, Omer Bin Hussain, Krishnan Nallaperumal, Mohammed Ramadan Saady, Mohamed Samiulla Khan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The paper presents an improved digital image watermarking algorithm by incorporating the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and singular value decomposition (SVD). The Fourier transformed carrier image is decomposed into four different frequency subbands by the proposed onion peel decomposition (OPD) algorithm and the SVD-based watermarking scheme is applied to attach the transformed watermark in all four carrier subbands. The proposed inverse OPD algorithm together with inverse DFT is utilized to reconstruct the watermarked image from the frequency blocks. The watermark extraction algorithm is simple and it performs the inverse of watermarking process. The experimental analysis on different images shows that …

Wireless sensor networks have grown from homogeneous network architecture to heterogeneous networks for the improvement of network efficiency and lifetime. This paper exhibits a mobile cluster-head data collection (MCHDC) model for heterogeneous wireless networks. The MCHDC model illustrates the mobility pattern of mobile cluster-head nodes in a controlled environment with uniform and nonuniform deployment of mobile elements in the area of observation. It focuses on the threshold velocity for movement of mobile elements in the network area. In this paper the effects of data sending rate, network area, sensor node density, and cluster-head node density on energy efficiency of the …

Push-Pull Cache Consistency Mechanism For Cooperative Caching In Mobile Ad Hoc Environments, Lilly Sheeba Selvin, Yogesh Palanichamy Jan 2016

Push-Pull Cache Consistency Mechanism For Cooperative Caching In Mobile Ad Hoc Environments, Lilly Sheeba Selvin, Yogesh Palanichamy

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Maintaining data consistency between data cached by a mobile client and data residing in the data server is a major issue in a wireless mobile environment. In this paper, we propose a push-pull cache consistency (2P2C) mechanism, with the intention of increasing the rate of serving requestors with recent up-to-date information or data from the cache of the intermediate nodes that are exact replicas of the data present in the origin server. This is a hybrid scheme that does not rely entirely either on the server or on the mobile client for maintaining consistency. Here we employ a registration process. …

Design And Implementation Of A Compact Avionics Instrument For Light Aviation, Mustafa Emre Aydemi̇r Jan 2016

Design And Implementation Of A Compact Avionics Instrument For Light Aviation, Mustafa Emre Aydemi̇r

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this study, a low-cost compact avionics instrument has been designed and implemented for light aviation vehicles such as ultralight airplanes, hang glider-trikes, and paramotors. At the moment there are a few commercial products that provide flight data and vehicle statuses such as altitude, temperature, fuel level, and engine hours meter. However, due to low production rates, customization for different air vehicles, and complex electronics and signal processing hardware, these instruments are generally far from being affordable; their cost may even be more than that of the air vehicle. This study presents a novel approach such that recent state-of-the-art hardware …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Direct torque control is used in the high performance control of induction motors. The most frequently faced problem of it is high torque ripples. In this study, a new approach based on artificial neural multinetworks is presented to overcome the problem. Two different artificial neural networks were suggested instead of vector selection and sector determination processes in the conventional direct torque control method. The conventional and the proposed control methods were evaluated on an induction motor through an experimental set. It was observed that the speed and torque responses of the proposed method were better than those of the conventional …

A Current-Based Simple Analog Mppt Circuit For Pv Systems, Bülent Büyükgüzel, Murat Aksoy

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A new single pilot-sensor maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system, consisting of a buck type DC/DC converter, was developed. It is controlled by an analog-based unit. The main difference between the proposed MPPT system and other systems is that the short circuit current of the pilot-PV module in our system is used to control the DC/DC converter. The circuit of the proposed system does not utilize an expensive digital signal processor nor a microcontroller; hence, the cost and the complexity of the system are reduced.
