This paper proposes an intelligent recommendation approach to facilitate personalized education and help students in planning their path to graduation. The goal is to identify a path that aligns with a student's interests and career goals and approaches optimality with respect to one or more criteria, such as time-to-graduation or credit hours taken. The approach is illustrated and verified through application to undergraduate curricula at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Recently, the utilization of Radio Frequency (RF) devices has increased exponentially over numerous vertical platforms. This rise has led to an abundance of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) continues to plague RF systems today. The continued crowding of the RF spectrum makes RFI efficient and lightweight mitigation critical. Detecting and localizing the interfering signals is the foremost step for mitigating RFI concerns. Addressing these challenges, we propose a novel and lightweight approach, namely RaFID, to detect and locate the RFI by incorporating deep neural networks (DNNs) and statistical analysis via batch-wise mean aggregation and standard deviation (SD) calculations. This study proposes a lifelong deep learning control scheme for robotic manipulators with bounded disturbances. This scheme involves the use of an online tunable deep neural network (DNN) to approximate the unknown nonlinear dynamics of the robot. The control scheme is developed by using a singular value decomposition-based direct tracking error-driven approach, which is utilized to derive the weight update laws for the DNN. To avoid catastrophic forgetting in multi-task scenarios and to ensure lifelong learning (LL), a novel online LL scheme based on elastic weight consolidation is included in the DNN weight-tuning laws. Distributed consensus is the core aspect of blockchain protocol security design. Recent protocols like IOTA have improved concurrency and scalability over Proof-of-work (PoW) with Bitcoin but have core design decisions that are inefficient for limited devices and do not take advantage of previous network experience to reduce calculations. This work proposes the first blockchain consensus protocol based on active machine-learning decisions, called Proof-of-history (PoH). PoH is setup as a distributed reinforcement-learning task for monitoring classification and training of blockchain transactions with an inner deep classifier. Scalability is essential for next generation blockchain technology to integrate with large mobile networks like Internet of Things (IoT). The IOTA distributed ledger protocol has combined transaction generation and verification to address this, but at the expense of increased reliance on connectivity to resolve conflicts with a novel ledger data structure. Intelligent Ledger Construction (ILC) was proposed as an auditable lightweight reinforcement-learning scheme to address this constraint with proposal of local conflict resolution with machine-learning classification. A worldwide problem, math anxiety is defined as an anxious state with an unpleasant feeling of tension characterized by fear of failing to achieve mathematics targets. Psychologically, math anxiety involves anxiety, tension, discomfort, nervousness, fear, shock, and insecurity. Global Positioning System (GPS) spoofing attacks have attracted more attention as one of the most effective GPS attacks. Since the signals from an authentic satellite and the spoofer undergo different attenuation, the captured envelope of fake GPS signals exhibits distinctive transmission characteristics due to short transmission paths. This can be utilized for GPS spoofing detection. The existing technique for GPS spoofing are either computationally too expensive, require specialize hardware/ software updates, or are not accurate enough. DJ-1 is a homodimeric protein that is centrally involved in various human diseases including Parkinson disease (PD). DJ-1 protects against oxidative damage and mitochondrial dysfunction through a homeostatic control of reactive oxygen species (ROS). DJ-1 pathology results from a loss of function, where ROS readily oxidizes a highly conserved and functionally essential cysteine (C106). The over-oxidation of DJ-1 C106 leads to a dynamically destabilized and biologically inactivated protein. An analysis of the structural stability of DJ-1 as a function of oxidative state and temperature may provide further insights into the role the protein plays in PD progression. Digital soil mapping (DSM) is a field of soil science that aims to improve traditional soil maps by producing higher resolution predictive maps of soil properties using spatial environmental data. DSM has historically relied primarily on static environmental covariates—such as slope gradient, slope aspect, and other topographic variables derived from digital terrain models—for predicting static soil properties, like soil texture. Advancements in satellite imagery and statistical modeling improve the accuracy of digital soil maps by incorporating multi-temporal data that can capture landscape-scale change over relatively short periods of time. The study of energy conversion in collisionless plasmas that are not in local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) is at the leading edge of plasma physics research. Plasma constituents in such systems can exhibit highly structured phase space densities that deviate significantly from that of a Maxwellian. A standard approach has emerged in recent years for investigating energy conversion between bulk flow and thermal energy in collisionless plasmas using the non-LTE generalization of the first law of thermodynamics. Advances in multi-task learning (MTL) models have improved the performance and explainability of recommender systems (RS) by jointly learning the recommendation and knowledge graph completion (KGC) tasks. Recent studies have established that considering the incomplete nature of knowledge graphs (KG) can further enhance the performance of RS. However, most existing MTL models depend on translation-based knowledge graph embedding (KGE) methods for KGC, which cannot capture various relation patterns, including composition relations that are prevalent in real-world KG.

We prove that more classes of groups than those described by Pierce have the property that the map Ψ is surjective, and we furnish examples of groups which do not have this property. Several results connecting the Pierce decomposition and the Pierce embedding of End(G) are obtained that allow one to derive general conditions on a group G which ensure that the Pierce embedding of End(G) is not surjective.

Critical applications demand strong security implementations, low latency and high availability at constant rates, however, the performance of a software system is affected by the implementation of security. This research measures the performance overhead and possible mitigation in cloud native systems secured with a service mesh, which allows enabling security policies for the authentication, authorization and encryption of traffic within distributed systems. Supposed detection of phosphine as a biosigature in the clouds of Venus has resulted in a flurry of interest in studying the potential habitability of Venus and other Venus-like exoplanets. However, there are still many unanswered questions about the planet's atmosphere. In this senior project, use spectroscopy to better understand the molecular composition and atmospheric dynamics of Venus. To do this, I analyzed partly-processed spectra from a previously unstudied infrared wavelength obtained at NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility in July 2021.
