Test 202: Cletrac Model 15, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …

The Articulated Skeleton Of Titanotherium, Erwin H. Barbour Jan 1932

The Articulated Skeleton Of Titanotherium, Erwin H. Barbour

Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum

The skeleton of a titanotherium, stored since 1894, was installed in the west corridor of Morrill Hall, April 28, 1931. In the meantime the specimen has been visited by many citizens, women's clubs, and especially by delegations of school children, boy scouts, and like organizations, from various parts of the State and elsewhere. Repeated requests for a popular report on this particular specimen actuates the writing of this leaflet. Titanotheres were by far the largest creatures of Oligocene time in Nebraska. In point of size they are called gigantic, elephantine, and titanic. The titans of Greek mythology were giants, and …

A Study Of The Colloid Obtained From Weathered Lignite, Cecil O. Lohn Jan 1932

A Study Of The Colloid Obtained From Weathered Lignite, Cecil O. Lohn

Theses and Dissertations

When Lignite is exposed to the action of weather it undergoes various changes, probably due to oxidation. Surface beds of lignite are often rejected by the miners as inferior coal, due to the weathered condition. But when this weathered lignite is treated with sodium hydroxide, and the resulting solution allowed to evaporate to dryness, there is left a hard, shiny substance very similar in appearance to hard coal. This dried product has been exploited under the name of Dakolite. When dispersed in water this product makes a very good wood stain.

Tests made on Dakolite show that it has colloidal …

A Study Of The Effect Of Temperature Upon Reactions Between Stannous And Arsenate Ions In Silicic Acid Gels, Ellis Elder

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Chapter I: Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this investigation was to determine to what extent the reaction between stannous and arsenate ions in silicic acid gels is influenced by temperature.

This was to be done by observing (1) the rate of crystal growth; and (2) the appearance of the crystal growth in sets of gels identical in composition but kept at different temperatures throughout the process of crystal growth.

Radio And A Public Address System For The High School, Kenneth H. Westlake

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

All the findings and knowledge of electricity and magnetism are not new; even the Greeks as far back as 600 B. C. knew something about these forces. As time went on the facts increased.

After the experiments of Faraday, Maxwell, Hertz and such men as these, electricity and magnetism became a vital part of human life and endeavor. Within the last twenty-five years the advances in electricity have been very rapid. The action of the electric current is a vital part of many developments and is helping to make human life more enjoyable and interesting.

Almost all schools today are …

Factors Affecting The Electrolytic Deposition Of Small Amounts Of Lead As Lead Dioxide And The Composition Of The Deposit, Thomas Gordon Day

Masters Theses

"The purpose of this investigation is to determine the best conditions for the quantitative deposition of lead when the content of this element is below 5 milligrams and to study the composition of the deposited PbO₂. The following conditions were studied during the course of the investigation. 1. The maximum amounts of copper and zinc permissible for the quantitative determination of lead. 2. Methods of separating lead from zinc when the latter element is present in amounts greater than are permitted in the determination of the lead. 3. The separation of lead from copper when this element is in greater …

The Extraction Of Waxes And Wax Mixtures By Means Of Common Organic Solvents, Bernard J. Finley Jan 1932

The Extraction Of Waxes And Wax Mixtures By Means Of Common Organic Solvents, Bernard J. Finley

Bachelors’ Theses

This work was performed with the intention of giving some information of the solubility of the more common waxes, by means of extraction with several commercial solvents. Besides the individual waxes, various mixtures of waxes were also used to determine the effect of the mixtures on the extractability.

Determinations are also made to find the extractable matter in a commercial furniture polish and shellac. The acid, saponification and iodine values of the polish and shellac are also found.

Very little work seems to have been done on the accurate determination of percentage of extractable matter in waxes and mixtures of …

Preliminary Construction Of A Photo-Electric Cell Concentrator, Stanley S. Williams Jun 1931

Preliminary Construction Of A Photo-Electric Cell Concentrator, Stanley S. Williams

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The separation of the valuable portion from the waste portion of an ore is an individual problem for every ore. However, the various methods for accomplishing this end, more or less classify themselves by the physical properties of the constituents of the ore. Most of the properties of minerals have been utilized in some way or other to affect the separation of the valuable from the invaluable parts. Practically nothing has been done so far with color and luster to attain this purpose.

It is believed that the photo—electric cell could also be used in concentrating a certain class of …

A Study Of The Temperature Of The Vapor Above A Boiling Salt Solution, Leo Wilson Scott Jun 1931

A Study Of The Temperature Of The Vapor Above A Boiling Salt Solution, Leo Wilson Scott

Honors Theses

The problem of temperature of the vapor over a boiling salt solution, has attracted a great deal of interest in the past, due partly to the conflicting data to be had and to the apparent paradox in the statement of Michael Faraday "that the temperature of the vapor over a boiling solution was the same as it would be over the boiling pure solvent."

The Effect Of Amines On The Setting Time Of Silicic Acid Gels, Phillip Holmes Dewey Jun 1931

The Effect Of Amines On The Setting Time Of Silicic Acid Gels, Phillip Holmes Dewey

Honors Theses

It is known that when sodium silicate solution and an acid are mixed, a gel is sooner or later formed. The speed of gelation depends on a number of factors. The fundamental factors on which gelation depends are- (l) The concentration of water glass (2) The concentration of acid (3) Agitation (4) Temperature In this work, these four factors were kept as constant as possible. It is also known that the presence of NH3 considerably reduces the time of set. In this work, the effect of CH3 NH2, which is closely related to NH3, was studied. The effect of methyl …
