Resource Optimization For Air Mobility Under Emergency Situations, Yongxin (Jack) Liu

This project aims to improve air traffic management in emergencies. We first developed a GRU neural network to forecast weather-related airport capacity constraints using historical data, underscoring the value of real-time data analysis. We then optimized emergency evacuation air travel using Particle Swarm Optimization, demonstrating the ability to quickly aggregate evacuation flight resources cost-effectively. Finally, we provided a hybrid model combining a genetic algorithm with a neural network for evacuation planning, we show that neural network can be integrated accelerate genetic algorithms for efficient and performance assured system optimization.

Background: Parkinson's Disease (PD) is characterized by both motor and non-motor symptoms, and its diagnosis primarily relies on clinical presentation. There is a growing need for diagnostic tools to identify the early signs of PD, particularly the initial motor impairments often manifested as gait abnormalities. Background: A theranostic strategy combining diagnostic imaging and targeted therapy in a single regimen is proposed for improved management and treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). Increased specificity in detection by the noninvasive imaging technique positron emission tomography (PET) can be achieved by radiolabeling antibodies (Abs) designed to target tumor-associated antigens with increased expression post-translational modifications present in cancer cells. In this study, an Ab designed to target the transmembrane glycoprotein mucin 13 (MUC13) was radiolabeled with the positron-emitting radionuclide zirconium-89 (89Zr) for PET imaging of a xenograft mouse model of CRC. Theory and Applications of Graphs

A graph $G$ is \emph{strongly $i$-bicritical} if it has independent domination number $i(G) \geq 3$, and $i(G - \{x, y\}) = i(G) - 2$ whenever $x$ and $y$ are two non-adjacent vertices of $G$. We describe five constructions of strongly $i$-bicritical graphs. For four of them, necessary and sufficient conditions for the graph produced by the construction to be strongly $i$-bicritical are given. The strongly $i$-bicritical graphs with independent domination number $i(G) = 3$ are characterized, and it is shown that the strongly $i$-bicritical graphs with independent domination number $i(G) \geq 5$ may be hard to characterize. The U.S. Air and Space Forces require optical expertise among their personnel. The Air Force Institute of Technology offers a graduate optics curriculum, which includes a three-course sequence to educate students in the optical concepts of radiometry and radiometric instrumentation. We find radiometry is often a deceptively difficult concept for students to master. To address this, we have developed an experiment in our optics-laboratory coursework to help them gain this mastery. A Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer (FTS) is used to collect spectral data from an unknown sample. FTS calibration and data collection are discussed here, as are the two specific samples …

Barley is commonly used in malting and brewing, and spent grain is repurposed for other foods. Barley contains gluten proteins called hordeins that cause intestinal damage and disease symptoms if eaten by people with celiac disease and related conditions. While the mashing process in brewing can partially hydrolyze immunogenic epitopes in hordeins, the immunogenic epitope load between the starting malt and spent grain has not been investigated. Herein, we quantified hordeins in commercially available spent grain and from matching malt. This paper presents the composite drought indicator (CDI) that Jordanian, Lebanese, Moroccan, and Tunisian government agencies now produce monthly to support operational drought management decision making, and it describes their iterative co-development processes. The CDI is primarily intended to monitor agricultural and ecological drought on a seasonal time scale. It uses remote sensing and modelled data inputs, and it reflects anomalies in precipitation, vegetation, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration. Once realized, autonomous aerial refueling will revolutionize unmanned aviation by removing current range and endurance limitations. Previous attempts at establishing vision-based solutions have come close but rely heavily on near perfect extrinsic camera calibrations that often change midflight. In this paper, we propose dual object detection, a technique that overcomes such requirement by transforming aerial refueling imagery directly into receiver aircraft reference frame probe-to-drogue vectors regardless of camera position and orientation. These vectors are precisely what autonomous agents need to successfully maneuver the tanker and receiver aircraft in synchronous flight during refueling operations. In our composite models of elementary particles as consisting of just two types of elementary basic charges, +e/3 and -e/3, the axial electric potential of any elementary particle is a function of a distance from the particle, and this function differs from the Coulomb potential of a point total charge of the particle. The electric potential of neutrinos is not zero at close distances from neutrinos. Neutrinos can form dipoles and bundles of 3 or more neutrinos. The potential energy of any composite structure is related to the binding energy of the structure. The equations for the electrostatic potential energy of quarks, electron-like structures, and neutrinos are presented for our models of elementary particles as spinning composite structures. The structures consist of up to 3 basic elementary charges of magnitude e/3 on the axis of rotation and N charges revolving about the axis. We applied these general equations specifically to the models of different quarks, electron and electron-like particles (muon and tau), and neutral particles (neutrinos). Interspecific hybridization between white clover (Trifolium repens L.) and ball clover (T.nigrescens) and Caucasian clover (T.ambiguum) is a means of improving the reproductive growth and persistency of T.repens. F1 hybrids between T.repens and T.nigrescens were produced without ovule culture and confirmed as true hybrids by chromosome counts, isoenzyme analysis and leaf markers. Their growth habit was generally intermediate between the two parents. Colchicine-Doubling Of Germinating Seedlings Of Interspecific Wildrye Hybrids, T A. Jones, D C. Nielson, H Jaussi

Colchicine has usually been applied to sterile clones of interspecific grass hybrids to restore fertility. However, when hybrids are partially fertile, colchicine can be applied to germinating seedlings. Four populations of Basin wildrye (Leymus cinereus) X beardless wildrye (L. triticoides) were treated with a 0.2% colchicine solution to double chromosome number from 4x=28 to 8x=56. Doubling percentage was 28, 33, 42, and 44% of all root-tips examined for the four populations. When plants without doubled sectors were discarded, doubling percentage increased to 56, 68, 78, and 78%. Plants with doubled sectors have been placed in crossing blocks …

The current study shows that using a batch approach to remove crystal violet dye from synthetic wastewater is feasible when using royal palm leaf sheath powder as an adsorbent. In order to investigate the effects of many parameters, including starting concentration, pH effect, dye concentration, adsorbent dose, contact time, and temperature, experiments were carried out under various operating conditions. Maximum removal was obtained at pH 6 and at a concentration of 100 ppm, which are considered as ideal values. The influence of pH and dye concentration was shown to be substantial. Nucleosomes are the building blocks of eukaryotic genomes and thus fundamental to to all genetic processes. Any protein or drug that binds DNA must either cooperate or compete with nucleosomes. Given that a nucleosome contains 147 base pairs of DNA, there are approximately 4^147 or 10^88 possible sequences for a single nucleosome. Exhaustive studies are not possible. However, genome wide association studies can identify individual nucleosomes of interest to a specific mechanism, and today's supercomputers enable comparative simulation studies of 10s to 100s of nucleosomes. The Tadmor type of entropy conservation formulation for the Euler equations and various skew-symmetric splittings of the inviscid flux derivatives are discussed. Numerical stability of high order central and Padé type (centered compact) spatial discretization is enhanced through the application of these formulations. Numerical test on a 2-D vortex convection problem indicates that the stability and accuracy of these formulations using the same high order central spatial discretization are similar for vortex travel up to a few periods. The slowly establishing salt-tolerant perennial grasses reduced nitrous oxide (N2 O- N) emissions from saline/sodic soil compared to barren areas. Other salt-tolerant species may accelerate vegetative establishment and reduce N 2 O-N emissions. In a greenhouse study, barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), Florida broadleaf mustard (Brassica juncea L.), and Kernza intermediate wheatgrass [Thinopyrum intermedium (Host) Barkworth & D. R. Dewey] were grown for 63 days to compare shoot biomass and chemical composition, N 2 O-N emissions, and the soil microbiome between saline/sodic and productive (non-salt impacted) soils. In time, pavements deteriorate, and need maintenance. One of the most typical pavement faults are cracks. Empirically, the most frequent cracks are longitudinal, i.e., following the direction of the road; less frequent are transversal cracks, which are orthogonal to the direction of the road. Sometimes, there are cracks in different directions, but such cracks are much rarer. In this paper, we show that simple geometric analysis and fundamental physical ideas can explain these observed relative frequencies.

Probabilistic fuzzy set is used to model the non-probabilistic and probabilistic uncertainties simultaneously in the system. This study proposes a cumulative probability-based discretization and probabilistic fuzzy set based novel fuzzy time series forecasting method. It also proposes a novel discretization approach based on cumulative probability to tackle the probabilistic uncertainty in partitioning of datasets. Gaussian probability distribution function has been used to construct probabilistic fuzzy set.
