Researchers from many fields have used statistical tools to make sense of large bodies of text. Many tools support quantitative analysis of documents within a corpus, but relatively few studies have examined statistical characteristics of whole corpora. Statistical summaries of whole corpora and comparisons between corpora have potential application in the analysis of topically organized applications such social media platforms. In this study, we created matrix representations of several corpora and examined several statistical tests to make comparisons between pairs of corpora with respect to the topical homogeneity of documents within each corpus. Mental health has become a major concern according to WHO who estimates that more than 350 million people worldwide are affected by depression. Studies have shown that interventions and social support can reduce stress and depression. However, counselling centers do not have enough resources to provide counselling and social support to all the participants in their interest. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as promising photocatalytic materials for solar energy conversion. However, a fundamental understanding of light harvesting and charge separation (CS) dynamics in MOFs remains underexplored, yet they are key factors that determine the efficiency of photocatalysis. Zeolitic Imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) have been demonstrated as promising light harvesting and photocatalytic materials for solar energy conversion. To facilitate their application in photocatalysis, it is essential to develop a fundamental understanding of their light absorption properties and energy transfer dynamics. In this work, we report distance-dependent energy transfer dynamics from a molecular photosensitizer (RuN3) to ZIF-67, where the distance between RuN3 and ZIF-67 is finely tuned by depositing an ultrathin Al2O3 layer on the ZIF-67 surface using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. Catchment nutrient export, especially during high flow events, can influence ecological processes in receiving waters by altering nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) concentrations and relative amounts (stoichiometry). Event-scale N and P export dynamics may be significantly altered by land use/land cover (LULC) and season. Consequently, to manage water resources, it is important to understand how LULC and season interact to influence event N and P export. Histamine and serotonin are important neurochemicals that maintain crucial brain functions. Both are thought to be altered in affective and neurodegenerative disorders such as depression and Parkinson’s disease. Histamine and serotonin are thought to modulate one another but the exact relationship remains unknown and this gap in knowledge makes diagnosing and treating disorders involving the transmitters difficult. The Hashemi lab studies serotonin neurochemistry to understand serotonin’s role in psychiatric disorders. Fluorescent dye tracing of groundwater is a technique employed particularly in carbonate rock karst regions to examine karst hydrology by mapping underground flow paths. It is important to understand the hydrology of karst environments because solutionally-enlarged conduits may allow the rapid influx of contaminants into the groundwater system. Understanding food recipe requires anticipating the implicit causal effects of cooking actions, such that the recipe can be converted into a graph describing the temporal workflow of the recipe. This is a non-trivial task that involves common-sense reasoning. However, existing efforts rely on hand-crafted features to extract the workflow graph from recipes due to the lack of large-scale labeled datasets. Moreover, they fail to utilize the cooking images, which constitute an important part of food recipes. This work demonstrates the feasibility and benefits of using pointing gestures, a naturally-generated additional input modality, to improve the multi-modal comprehension accuracy of human instructions to robotic agents for collaborative tasks.We present M2Gestic, a system that combines neural-based text parsing with a novel knowledge-graph traversal mechanism, over a multi-modal input of vision, natural language text and pointing. Textual data is common and informative auxiliary information for recommender systems. Most prior art utilizes text for rating prediction, but rare work connects it to top-N recommendation. Understanding individual’s exercise motives, participation patterns in a gym and reasons for dropout are essential for designing strategies to help gym-goers with long-term exercise adherence. In this work, we derive insights on various exercise-related behaviors of gymgoers, including evidence of a significant number of individuals exhibiting early dropout and also describing their attitudes towards digital technologies for sustained gym participation. By utilizing gym visitation data logs of 6513 individuals over a longitudinal period of 16 months in a campus gym, we show the retention and dropout rates of gym-goers. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects over 10 million people worldwide (Health Unlocked, 2017). People diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease can experience tremors, muscular rigidity and slowness of movement. Tremor is the most common symptom and external agents like stress and anxiety can make it worse, which may cause complications to complete simple day-to-day tasks.

Therefore Bio Protech proposes the development of a smart wearable device for reduction of the hand-tremors based on medical evidence that by applying vibration to the wrist may result in a reduction of the involuntary tremor. The device imitates the shape of a wristwatch …

Social events, promoted in print media using posters, flyers and banners often fail to attract an audience because we frequently forget the details of the event when we pass-by the promotion on the street. Smaller venues or artists often rely on low-cost, street-level marketing campaigns in areas of high foot traffic areas to develop interest in an event. These venues or artist are often without a budget for online marketing or have a target demographic outside the typical Social Media consumer which makes attracting an audience difficult.

In the blooming era of smart edge devices, surveillance cam- eras have been deployed in many locations. Surveillance cam- eras are most useful when they are spaced out to maximize coverage of an area. However, deciding where to place cam- eras is an NP-hard problem and researchers have proposed heuristic solutions. Existing work does not consider a signifi- cant restriction of computer vision: in order to track a moving object, the object must occupy enough pixels. The number of pixels depends on many factors (how far away is the object? What is the camera resolution? What is the focal length?). …
