Employee Attribution Of Human Resource Practices And Implications For Commitment, Turnover And Job Performance In Local Government Police, Merlene V. Reid
Employee Attribution Of Human Resource Practices And Implications For Commitment, Turnover And Job Performance In Local Government Police, Merlene V. Reid
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This explanatory, non-experimental study examined the relationship between employees Attribution of HR Practices, organizational commitment, turnover intent and extra-role job performance. Using data from an online, self-report survey of 147 police officers, four hypotheses were tested via SEM, multivariate and multiple regression analyses. Attribution to locus of causality was significantly related to commitment levels, with officers attributing internal causes for any personal, financial impact that arose from pension reforms and overall changes to their compensation packages. Structural equation modeling results also found that HR Attribution drove a significant negative indirect path to turnover intent via affective commitment and a significant …
The Impact Of Persistent Sadness And Bullying Victimization On Suicidal Thoughts And Behaviors Among Heterosexual-Identified Sexual Minority And Lgbq Adolescents, Amber L. Dukes
Psychology ETDs
Participants who identify as heterosexual comprise a proportion of those who report same-sex contact that is as large as or larger than their gay, lesbian, bisexual, and questioning peers. However, little research has explored psychosocial outcomes among heterosexuals with same- or both-sex contact, referred to herein as heterosexual-identified sexual minority (HSM) participants. This study examined the impact of persistent sadness, bullying victimization, and sexual orientation on the probability of suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) in a sample of heterosexual- and LGBQ-identified adolescents. Results showed that the probability the probability of STBs was higher for bisexual and questioning participants compared with …

Journal of School-Based Counseling Policy and Evaluation
This study explored whether Personal and Social Development (PSD) teachers, school-based counsellors, and students in Maltese secondary schools perceived processing experiences as empowering to seek counselling, if and when needed. The study investigated if processing techniques within PSD methodology helped develop self-awareness. The research builds on the concept of ethical advertising - opportunity to inform and help clients arrive at courses of actions beneficial for themselves. The literature review discusses processing in the PSD Maltese model, comparing processing with overall counselling experiences. Data were collected through two questionnaires, one for professionals and one for 15 and 16-year-olds completing secondary school …

Activities And Role Of School-Based Counselors In The Us: A National Survey Of American Counseling Association Members, Kui Y. Fan, John C. Carey, Ian Martin, Lijuan He
Journal of School-Based Counseling Policy and Evaluation
This study was conducted to determine: how a US sample of American Counseling Association (ACA) affiliated school-based counselors viewed their role; the extent to which various activities were practiced; and, how demographic variables (e.g., work setting and professional identity) were related to both perceptions of role and practice. Participants (N = 249) completed the International Survey of School Counselors Activities-US (ISSA-US) online, which measured both perceptions of the appropriateness of 42 activities and whether these activities are reported to be enacted. US counselors had a broad definition of their role and showed a high degree of consensus regarding the appropriateness …
Mapping The Food Landscape In New Hampshire, Jessica A. Carson
Mapping The Food Landscape In New Hampshire, Jessica A. Carson
Carsey School of Public Policy
In this brief, Jess Carson explores the food landscape of New Hampshire, documenting where lower incomes and low population density might lead to food insecurity, and mapping the locations of various food sources. Much of the northern and western parts of the state have high proportions of low-income residents and low population density, compared with more southern parts of the state. In terms of food sources, retail locations roughly mirror the state’s population distribution, with many options throughout the southern tier of the state and concentration around the Interstate 93 corridor into Northern New Hampshire. While many food support sites, …

Cloud Computing Adoption In Higher Education: A Comparative Study Between Public And Private Universities In Sub Saharan Africa, Valentina Arkorful
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Cloud computing is fast gaining a significant ground as a solution to offer institutions with competitive advantage compared to the old traditional Technology. Despite the potential benefits that is associated with cloud computing which includes reduction of total costs of acquisition or ownership (TCO) of hardware, software and skilled resources, the adoption level of cloud services is still very low in higher institutions of learning due to security issues, especially trust issues which remain a major concern over cloud solutions. The study was carried out in some selected public and private universities in sub Saharan Africa to determine the reason …

Abolitionist Feminism As Prisons Close: Fighting The Racist And Misogynist Surveillance “Child Welfare” System, Venezia Michalsen
Abolitionist Feminism As Prisons Close: Fighting The Racist And Misogynist Surveillance “Child Welfare” System, Venezia Michalsen
Department of Justice Studies Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
The global prison industrial complex was built on Black and brown women’s bodies. This economy will not voluntarily loosen its hold on the bodies that feed it. White carceral feminists traditionally encourage State punishment, while anti-carceral, intersectional feminism recognizes that it empowers an ineffective and racist system. In fact, it is built on the criminalization of women’s survival strategies, creating a “victimization to prison pipeline.” But prisons are not the root of the problem; rather, they are a manifestation of the over-policing of Black women’s bodies, poverty, and motherhood. Such State surveillance will continue unless we disrupt these powerful systems …

Choose Your Own Adventure : A Thrilling Journey Of Collaborative Collection Assessment, Jamie G. Hazlitt, Madelynn Dickerson, Caroline Muglia, Jeremy Whitt
Jamie Hazlitt
In 2016, the speakers embarked upon a multi-institutional project to compare print and e-book usage across four Southern California institutions (Claremont Colleges Library, Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University, and University of Southern California). The preliminary results of this comparative usage analysis, presented as a poster session at the Charleston Conference, revealed that print books in certain art and architecture classes and subclasses are used over e-books, suggesting “leanings” in format preferences of users.
While this collaborative research project provided provocative insights into art and architecture e-book usage, it also raised important research methods questions related to collaborative analysis using multiple …
