The Potential Cost Of Regulation Of Methane And Nitrous Oxide Emissions In U.S. Agriculture, Tshepelayi Kabata, Lilyan E. Fulginiti, Richard K. Perrin
Department of Agricultural Economics: Faculty Publications
Background: Most studies on the environmental impacts of agriculture have attempted to measure environmental impacts but have not assessed the ability of the sector to reduce or mitigate such impacts. Only a few studies have examined greenhouse gas emissions from the sector. This paper assesses the ability of states in the U.S. to reduce agricultural emissions of methane and nitrous oxide, two major greenhouse gases (GHGs) with important global warming potential.
Methods: The analysis evaluates Färe’s PAC (pollution abatement cost) for each state and year, a measure of the potential opportunity costs of subjecting the sector to GHG …
Fusing Approaches In Educational Research: Data Collection And Data Analysis In Phenomenological Research, Pedro P. Aguas
Fusing Approaches In Educational Research: Data Collection And Data Analysis In Phenomenological Research, Pedro P. Aguas
The Qualitative Report
One of the aims of human sciences seeks to understand the essences and meanings of human experiences by focusing on philosophical, epistemological, methodological, and linguistic principles through transcendental phenomenology and hermeneutics, two philosophies and research methodologies central to qualitative research. Therefore, fusing approaches provides a space where both epistemology and methodology within both traditions can merge to yield meaning and understanding, and at the same time, offer a new approach to dealing with data collection and data analysis without neglecting or distorting original leading concepts. Fusing approaches comes into being as the merging of overlapping and deferring epistemological, methodological, and …

Users’ Perceptions Of E-Libraries In Punjab, Pakistan, Muhammad Younus Assistant Professor (Dlisc), Naila Shams Ul-Haq
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The present study employed a quantitative research approach to explore users’ perceptions of e-libraries established under the Punjab E-Library Project (PELP) in Punjab, Pakistan. On the basis of the literature review, a questionnaire was developed to gather necessary data for addressing the research questions. The quantitative data was collected from users of four e-libraries by employing the convenience sampling technique. The findings indicate that the majority of the respondents used e-libraries to gain benefit from their resources and services. The respondents used various electronic gadgets, such as desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets to access and use resources and services of …

2022-1 A Partial Identification Approach To Identifying The Determinants Of Human Capital Accumulation: An Application To Teachers, Nirav Mehta
Department of Economics Research Reports
This paper views teacher quality through the human capital perspective. Teacher quality exhibits substantial growth over teachers’ careers, but why it improves is not well understood. I use a human capital production function nesting On-the-Job-Training (OJT) and Learning-by-Doing (LBD) and experimental variation from Glewwe et al. (2010), a teacher incentive pay experiment in Kenya, to discern the presence and relative importance of these forces. The identified set for the OJT and LBD components has a closed-form solution, which depends on experimentally estimated average treatment effects. The results provide evidence of an LBD component, as well as an informative upper bound …

2022-2 Robust Contracts In Common Agency, Keler Marku, Sergio Ocampo, Jean-Baptiste Tondji
Department of Economics Research Reports
Business activities often involve a common agent managing a variety of projects on behalf of investors with potentially conflicting interests. The extent of the agent’s actions is also often unknown to investors, who have to design contracts that provide incentives to the manager despite this lack of crucial knowledge. We consider a game between several principals and a common agent, where principals know only a subset of the actions available to the agent. Principals demand robustness and evaluate contracts on a worst-case basis. This robust approach allows for a crisp characterization of the equilibrium contracts and payoffs and provides a …
