Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
This agency will be particularly concerned about any impact which this project might have on any existing, proposed or known units of the National Park System, or any known historic, natural or environmental education sites which are currently part of , or eligible for, the National Landmark Program. This report is a planning aid for the proposed Dickey-Lincoln Dams and Reservoirs project in Maine. A number of endangered, rare, or unique animal species are known or suspected to occur in the project area.

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
The U.S. Departments of the Interior and Energy have conducted system planning, location, and environmental studies for the trans-mission facilities required for the Dickey-Lincoln School Hydroelectric Project. These studies of many alternate routes have resulted in iden-tification of a proposed transmission line route, and an environmental impact statement, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. This report, documenting an early phase of the overall studies, was first published by the Department of the Interior in February 1977. It is being republished as Appendix A to the DOE Environmental Impact Statement for the project.

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
The principal objective of this study is to identify the major types and intensity of social and economic impacts anticipated with the proposed pre-construction, construction, operation and maintenance of the Dickey-Lincoln transmission line. In order to address the types of anticipated impacts it was necessary to first develop a socio-economic profile of the affected area.

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
This report is in partial fulfillment of the requirement of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. It is a study of the existing and proposed land use impacts which would likely occur as a result of construction of the Dickey-Lincoln Transmission Line in con-junction with the Dickey-Lincoln Hydroelectric Project at Lincoln School in Northern Maine. This report is organized and follows basically a topical summary as outlined in the National Environmental Policy Act.

The report assessing cultural resources for the Dickey/Lincoln School Transmission Project consists of five narrative chapters, a topical bibliography, and five appendices. The scope of work, together with the USDI guidelines for cultural resource survey (included in Appendix E), comprise an attitude and approach toward prehistory which is in accord with the current state of the art, not simply in terms of cultural resource management but also in terms of contemporary standards generally recognized by practitioners of anthropological archaeology.

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
This report identifies alternative corridors of land within which transmission lines could be routed and details various impacts on the environment which would be associated with introduction of transmission facilities. Many alternative corridor locations were identified (see Figure 1-1). Identification of these alternative transmission corridors was a complex process, since the number of potential corridors capable of connecting the various substations was myriad; the 'least desirable' potential corridors, i.e., those where transmission facilities might have entailed severest impacts on the environment, had to be eliminated from consideration before alternative corridors could be delineated. Identified alternative corridor locations were subsequently evaluated …

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
The responsibility for marketing federally generated power (under provisions of the Flood Control Act of 1944) was transferred from the Department of the Interior to the newly formed Department of Energy. The power transmission portions of the Dickey- Lincoln School Lakes Project were included in that transfer. The U.S. Department of the Interior and Energy have conducted system planning, location, and environmental studies for the transmission facilities required for the Dickey-Lincoln School Hydroelectric Project. Soil And Plant Analysis : A Guide To Fertilizer Usage, Walter Jacob Cox
Soil And Plant Analysis : A Guide To Fertilizer Usage, Walter Jacob Cox
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Soil and plant analysis can be used to identify problems in soils, diagnose nutrient deficiencies and as a guide to fertiliser usage.
Soil testing is particularily useful where large amounts of phosphorus and potassium are leached or removed from the paddock in hay or silage.
Actual rates of fertiliser can only be recommended from soil testing and only in conjunction with additional biological and economic information.

Producing 20-Month Old Beef Steers Off Annual Pasture, K D. Greathead, D. J. Barker, W. J. Ryan
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
A recent Mt Barker experiment compared two systems of fodder conservation with continuous grazing, using two types of steers, at three stocking rates. Year-round performance, carcass composition, and resulting costs and returns per hectare were assessed.
Production per hectare was greatest from crossbred steers at the intermediate stocking rate with either type of fodder conservation.

The Response Of Various Soil Strength Indices To Changing Water Content And Bulk Density, Larry G. Wells, O. Treesuwan
Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Faculty Publications
Various soil strength parameters were measured in the laboratory using a bevameter and a recording soil cone penetrometer. Measurements were made at various levels of soil bulk density and water content. Results were discussed in terms of similar published analyses. Two dissimilar methods of predicting vehicular tractive performance were compared and evaluated in terms of potential utility with respect to prediction of soil trafficability.

Geology Of The Lucea Inlier, Western Jamaica, Jack Grippi
Geology Theses and Dissertations
The Lucea Inlier exposes a Santonian to Campanian 4 km + thick sequence of shale-siltstone, resedimented volcaniclastics, lenses of shallow-water limestone, micritic limestone, pebbly mudstone and sandy pebble to boulder conglomerate. Clastics were deposited by a variety of gravity flow mechanisms. Petrographically sandstones are lithic or feldspathic arenites and contain only very small amounts of detrital quartz. Structurally the inlier is characterized by simple, open, east-west trending folds. A spaced, vertical axial-planar cleavage is developed in shales and fine siltstones. Two major east-west trending left-lateral fault zones, the Fat Hog Quarter and Maryland faults, cut the inlier into three blocks, …

An Evaluation Of The Effects Of Dredging Within The Arkansas River Navigation System - Volume I - Introduction, Summary And Conclusions, And Recommendations, Arkansas Water Resources Research Center
Technical Reports
The foundation for the development of the Arkansas River was laid with the authorization of many upstream reservoirs in the comprehensive River and Harbor Act of 1946 signed by President Truman. Subsequent authorizations were forthcoming and work began on many of the bank stabilization facilities in 1950 and on the major structures in 1957. The current McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System was substantially completed in 1972. The authorized multiple-purpose plan for the Arkansas River and tributaries provided for the construction of coordinated developments in the interests of navigation, hydroelectric power, flood control, bank stabilization, and related benefits including recreation and …

Potassium Deficiency In Lupins : Identification, Rates, Times And Method Of Application, Walter Jacob Cox
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Large areas of sandplain soils north of Perth are low in potassium levels, and responses to applied potassium have been large for both sub. clover and grain lupins.
This article indicates where potassium might be needed, and how to diagnose and overcome deficiencies in lupins.
