Much of the base line ecological data now collected will be outlined here and in subsequent works. Consideration of the relationship between the magnetic field produced by a magnetic shell and that produced by a current loop requires the evaluation of the line integral ɸH̅ • dl̅, where a portion of the path must cross the dipole layer. The correct line integral to be evaluated must be ɸB̅ • dl̅. The evaluation of this integral leads immediately to the correct Maxwell equation in ∆ x H̅. Gaussian units are used.

This study was done for the Erie Hining Company after periodic problems with the quality of pellets from taconit2 of the Biwabik Formation had been linked to the presence of carbonate minerals. The carbonates found in the cherty members of the Precambrian Biwabik Formation are predominantly siderite, ankerite, and calcite. Siderite is the only primary carbonate mineral and occurs in three forms: nicrogranular, granular (oolitic), and crystalline aggregates (recrystallized). Ankerite is a secondary mineral occurring as crystalline aggregates and alteration rims on granular siderite. Calcite is found only in fractures and fault zones. Middle Cenozoic (Oligocene and Miocene) continental deposits of North America have been most studied in southwestern South Dakota and western Nebraska where the White River Group constitutes a fairly complete Oligocene record, and the Arikaree Group of early Miocene age is commonly the sole remaining record of that epoch. Isolated outcrops in adjacent states also offer opportunities for studying the middle Cenozoic history of the Midcontinent but disagreement as to the physical stratigraphy of such deposits has hindered further work in these areas. Tabulate and rugose corals are described from the Ordovician Red River) Stony Mountain, and Stonewall Formations in southern Manitoba and the Ordovician Bighorn Formation in northern Wyoming. Fifty-four species, 12 of which are new, are distributed in 20 genera. The Flower Model of coral evolution, based on wall microstructure of colonial corals, is extended to include the septa! "An example of a quasi-uniform space which is complete but not strongly complete is constructed. We also give an example to show that a T₁ space does not necessarily have a T₁ strong completion.

The definition of Cauchy filter is discussed. An alternate definition, referred to as C-filter, is considered. A construction of a C-completion is given and it is shown that if a quasi-pseudometric is complete, then the corresponding quasi-uniform structure is C-complete.

"The sampling boat and the graphite furnace have been shown to possess the required sensitivity to detect tellurium at ultra-trace levels, in a variety of sample types, by atomic absorption. In the sampling boat approach, tellurium in sample solutions is chemically separated and concentrated by extraction into methyl isobutyl ketone before measurement. For samples exhibiting extraction interferences or excessively high background absorption, a preliminary separation of tellurium by coprecipitation with selenium is described. Using this technique, tellurium can be quantitatively detected down to 5 nanograms and linear response is observed to 100 nanograms. Relative standard deviations of better than 7% …
