Rare Earth Elements (REE) + Niobium (Nb) + Uranium (U) + Zircon (Zr) + Lithium (Li) formations are investigated which are related with alkaline Upper Cretaceous - Lower Paleocene Kuluncak Syenitoid that settled by cutting the Kuluncak ophiolite in the north of Kuluncak (Malatya) town. The alkaline magma-related Büyük Kuluncak REE - Nb - U deposit, which is enriched with regard to rare metals (Nb, Zr, and Rb), is the first economic deposit of our country. Search For Electroweak Production Of Charginos And Neutralinos In Proton-Proton Collisions At √S = 13 Tev, A. Tumasyan

A direct search for electroweak production of charginos and neutralinos is presented. Events with three or four leptons, with up to two hadronically decaying τ leptons, or two same-sign light leptons are analyzed. The data sample consists of 137 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions with a center of mass energy of 13TeV, recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. The results are interpreted in terms of several simplified models. These represent a broad range of production and decay scenarios for charginos and neutralinos. This project investigates a novel ionic current rectification (ICR) phenomenon created by the opening and closing of nanopores by charged silica nanoparticles (SNPs) under electrophoretic flow. This voltage-controlled opening and closing of the pores can be exploited to allow delivery of nicotine through the pores at programmable intervals. The ICR phenomenon was thoroughly investigated by varying pH, buffer concentration, SNP concentration, and applied voltage range. The mechanism was also verified by testing with a 2-, 3-, and 5-electrode system. An alkyne-functionalized elastomer derived from sebacic acid, 1,3-propanediol, and alkyne-functionalized serinol is synthesized via melt condensation. A low-power UV lamp triggers the cross-linking rapidly via thiol-yne click chemistry. The cross-linking behavior is studied by photorheology and NMR spectroscopy. The resultant elastomer possesses mechanical properties similar to those of human soft tissues and exhibits in vitro degradability and good cytocompatibility.

The focus of this study looks at the effect of alternative assessment on student achievement in a high school science classroom. Within this action research, students have choices and are able to demonstrate creativity in their alternative assessments. By comparing student results from traditional and alternative assessments, the impact of assessment showed students had an overwhelming preference for completing alternative assessments, and a majority of students did better on the alternative assessment when compared to the traditional assessment.

Thermoset polymer networks are ubiquitous in the construction of high-performance materials due to their excellent mechanical properties, solvent resistance, and thermomechanical performance. However, the crosslinked structure that instills these materials with favorable performance also makes them incredibly resistant to degradation and are nearly impossible to recycle – adding to the ever-growing problem of plastic pollution. Hydrolytically degradable thermosets have emerged as a potentially sustainable alternative to traditional thermosets by affording networks that are inherently degradable in aqueous environments. This thesis evaluates the function of the current history of mathematics methodologies and explores ways in which historiographical methodologies could be successfully implemented in the field. Traditional approaches to the history of mathematics often lack either an accurate portrayal of the social and cultural influences of the time, or they lack an effective usage of mathematics discussed. This paper applies a holistic methodology in a case study of Kurt Gödel’s influential work in logic during the Interwar period and the parallel rise of intellectual modernism. This research is to investigate lines on a smooth projective surface. A quadric surface contains two families of planes that provide a ruling of the surface. A cubic surface contains twenty-seven lines, and we provide a complete description of these lines for a Fermat cubic surface. Furthermore, under the Plucker embedding, we show that each family of the lines on a quadric surface corresponds to plane conic curves lying on complementary planes in the projective space of dimension five.

The effects of sequence of impregnation (Pd on cerium oxides -alumina and cerium oxides on Pd-alumina) and calcination temperature (500 ℃ and 850 ℃) on the catalytic oxidation of methane under lean conditions were investigated. The catalysts were prepared by a combination of impregnation, slurry and vortexing methods. The catalysts had 4.7 wt.% Pd and 10.7 wt.% Ce based on inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) analysis. The catalysts were characterized by pulse chemisorption, temperature programmed reduction (TPD), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). We present a follow-up method based on supervised machine learning (ML) to improve the performance in the search of gravitational wave (GW) bursts from core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe) using the coherent WaveBurst (cWB) pipeline. The ML model discriminates noise from signal events by using a set of reconstruction parameters provided by cWB as features. Detected noise events are discarded yielding a reduction in the false alarm rate (FAR) and the false alarm probability thus enhancing the statistical significance. Collision Induced Dissociation (CID) and Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry (IM-MS) are methods used to understand the structural arrangement and stability of large molecules. In this study, the gold nanocluster Au30(S-tBu)18 was dissociated at varying Trap collision energies, and drift time vs mass spectrometry data was plotted to determine the order of cluster fragmentation. Comparing Au30(S-tBu)18 data to that of Au25(SCH2CH2Ph)18, the only current nanocluster published with IM-MS data, two distinctly different dissociation patterns were seen. The aim of this honors project was to discern the difference between how various types of copper reacted with glass. The two disciplines that were connected were chemistry and glassblowing. The basic components learned in chemistry were applied to glass with an end goal of a project installation that visualized the discoveries with copper. The glassblowing technique used was lost wax casting, and the two types of copper used were copper foil and fine copper metal powder. A simple means of watering plants in the low-g environment aboard orbiting spacecraft is not obvious. Since the beginning of spaceflight, numerous approaches have been pursued to water plants that seek to maximize plant viability and system reliability, while minimizing crew time and system complexity. The Plant Water Management experiments (PWM) seek to apply recent advances in low-gravity capillary fluidics to the challenges faced during plant growth operations aboard spacecraft. In this manuscript we generalize Fulton's bivariate intersection multiplicity algorithm to a partial intersection multiplicity algorithm in the n-variate setting. We extend this generalization of Fulton's algorithm to work at any point, rational or not, using the theory of regular chains. We implement these algorithms in Maple and provide experimental testing. The results indicate the proposed algorithm often outperforms the existing standard basis-free intersection multiplicity algorithm in Maple, typically by one to two orders of magnitude. This work investigates several geometric properties of the solutions of the multi-affine polynomials. Chapters 1, 2 discuss two different notions of invariant circles. Chapter 3 gives several loci of polynomials of degree three. A locus of a complex polynomial p(z) is a minimal, with respect to inclusion, set that contains at least one point of every solution of the polarization of the polynomial. While much research has shown that characteristics of the environment surrounding supercells can potentially indicate their likelihood to become tornadic, it is not uncommon for tornadic and non-tornadic supercells to coexist in seemingly similar environments. In these situations, it is difficult operationally to separate tornadic from non-tornadic supercells using environmental observations alone. Given that tornadic and non-tornadic supercells have been found to coexist in similar environments, something must be occurring beneath the observational and/or model gridscale that is supporting tornadogenesis in some supercells while inhibiting it in others. It is aimed in this study to measure the undercutting rate of weak geological units under field conditions and to determine the relationship between this parameter and other indexes and physical properties of related rocks. Thus, 11 different locations in which weak materials were found and undercutting problems were observed in the road slopes were selected. Henrys Lake, Idaho, is a renowned trophy trout fishery that faces an uncertain future following the establishment of Utah Chub (UTC) Gila atraria. Utah Chub were first documented in the lake in 1993 and have become abundant over the past two decades. Little is known about the ecology of UTC, but they typically have negative effects on salmonids in systems where they have been introduced. Specifically, this project takes an analytical look at the recent trends in launch angles and spin rates to determine if there are any significant causes to the increased number of no-hitters in baseball. Literature on urban forests suggests that trees can provide a range of provisioning ecosystem services, including edible uses. The Wabash CarbonSAFE project drilled the Wabash #1 stratigraphic test well (ID# 168045) at the Wabash Valley Resources (WVR) IGCC facility in Vigo County, Indiana, to characterize and evaluate the basal Cambrian Mt. Simon Sandstone for commercial-scale CO2 storage near the site. This report presents an extensive geologic characterization of the Mt. Serverless computing automates fine-grained resource scaling and simplifies the development and deployment of online services with stateless functions. However, it is still non-trivial for users to allocate appropriate resources due to various function types, dependencies, and input sizes. Misconfiguration of resource allocations leaves functions either under-provisioned or over-provisioned and leads to continuous low resource utilization. This paper presents Freyr, a new resource manager (RM) for serverless platforms that maximizes resource efficiency by dynamically harvesting idle resources from over-provisioned functions to under-provisioned functions.
