As of right now, NASA and other space programs are estimating that by 2026, there will be people living in Space. Whether it be the Moon or Mars, one cannot have a functional society without a proper source of laws, especially since no one country has ownership over space. "One Small Step" will produce this source of laws, called the “Space Bill of Rights,” that will outline important matters like the trade of resources, medical care, government officials, and will ensure the preservation of our physical and figurative footsteps in space. This Space Bill of Rights is made up of …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Aiming at the unsatisfactory the results of the real-time dynamic task allocation in discrete workshops are not ideal, an improved water filling algorithm is proposed. Compared with the equal cost allocation of the water injection algorithm, the processing rate and cost factors are added to the improved water injection algorithm to coordinate the processing rate, the cost and the workpieces. The allocation of the different cost workpieces is realized and the result is adjusted, which can meet the requirements of discrete distribution. The improved water injection algorithm can dynamically allocate the newly added workpieces in real time. The proposed …
A Fractal Geometry For Hydrodynamics, Jonah Mears
A Fractal Geometry For Hydrodynamics, Jonah Mears
Honors Theses
Experiments have shown that objects with uneven surfaces, such as golf balls, can have less drag than those with smooth surfaces. Since fractal surfaces appear naturally in other areas, it must be asked if they can produce less drag than a traditional surface and save energy. Little or no research has been conducted so far on this question. The purpose of this project is to see if fractal geometry can improve boat hull design by producing a hull with low friction.

Study Of Deexcitation Intensities To The K-Shell In Iron 55, Eric Helgemo
Honors Theses
55Fe radioactive sources are used for x-ray calibration due to the long half-lives of 2.73 years and the optimal energies of the peaks. The source used in the experiment was generated using Western Michigan University’s Tandem Van de Graff accelerator to produce a 6 MeV proton beam which induced a 55Mn(p, n)55Fe reaction on a 10 μm 55Mn target. The emissions from this target were then measured using a silicon lithium drift x-ray detector to determine the number of instances of deexcitation through kα and kβ modes. The preliminary data discussed showed a lower relative deexcitation rate of 6.67 between …

The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) Gamma-Ray Observatory surveys the very high-energy sky in the 300 GeV to >100 TeV energy range. HAWC has detected two blazars above 11σ, Markarian 421 (Mrk 421) and Markarian 501 (Mrk 501). The observations are comprised of data taken in the period between 2015 June and 2018 July, resulting in ∼1038 days of exposure. In this work, we report the time-averaged spectral analyses for both sources, above 0.5 TeV. Taking into account the flux attenuation due to the extragalactic background light, the intrinsic spectrum of Mrk 421 is described by a power law with …

Stability Analysis Of Delay-Driven Coupled Cantilevers Using The Lambert W-Function, Daniel Siebel-Cortopassi
Stability Analysis Of Delay-Driven Coupled Cantilevers Using The Lambert W-Function, Daniel Siebel-Cortopassi
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
A coupled delay-feedback system of two cantilevers can yield greater sensitivity than that of asingle cantilever system, with potential applications in atomic force microscopy. The Lambert W-function analysis concept for delay differential equations is used to more accurately model the behavior of specific configurations of these cantilever systems. We also use this analysis concept to find parameters which yield stability for greater parameter ranges, of the delay differential equations. The Q factor, or quality factor, is the ratio of energy stored in the system, to the energy lost per fixed oscillation/movement cycle. Having stability of the cantilevers corresponds to the …

Abstract: To avoid unbalanced workload assignment, we studied the vehicle routing problem with refined oil secondary distribution considering workload balance. A bi-objectivemixed integer programming model was built to minimize the total distribution cost and the maximum difference in vehicle route length. A heuristic variable neighborhood tabu search algorithm was designed. An improved Solomon_I1 insertion algorithm was developed to generate afeasible initial solution such that the total distribution cost was as small as possible. Then, the variable neighborhood tabu search algorithm was used to improve the initial solution and thereby obtain the approximate optimal solution. The simulation results show that in …
Finite N-Quandles Of Twisted Double Handcuff And Complete Graph, Veronica Backer-Peral
Finite N-Quandles Of Twisted Double Handcuff And Complete Graph, Veronica Backer-Peral
Honors Thesis
The Double Handcuff and K4 graphs can be generalized to a single family of spatial graphs by adding a variable number of twists between two edges. We can identify spatial graphs by calculating a quotient of the fundamental quandle, known as an N-quandle, which is a spatial graph invariant. In this paper, we prove that the N-quandle associated with this family of spatial graphs is finite when all but two edges are given a label of 2, and the remaining two edges are assigned labels from the natural numbers. To prove that the N-quandle is finite, we produce Cayley graphs …

A Functional Optimization Approach To Stochastic Process Sampling, Ryan Matthew Thurman
A Functional Optimization Approach To Stochastic Process Sampling, Ryan Matthew Thurman
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The goal of the current research project is the formulation of a method for the estimation and modeling of additive stochastic processes with both linear- and cycle-type trend components as well as a relatively robust noise component in the form of Levy processes. Most of the research in stochastic processes tends to focus on cases where the process is stationary, a condition that cannot be assumed for the model above due to the presence of the cyclical sub-component in the overall additive process. As such, we outline a number of relevant theoretical and applied topics, such as stochastic processes and …
